Ballerina Misty Copeland has a big announcement to make

Known as the first black female principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre, Misty Copeland has already made an amazing name for herself in the entertainment world. Now, she's securing her spot as one of the most influential dancers of this generation.

Not only is she currently celebrating the release of A Ballerina's Tale, a documentary following her meteoric rise, injury and recover (watch the flick on Amazon or iTunes, or check here for a theater showing near you), she's also sharing the news that she's working on a fictional dance drama TV show for Fox.

According to Deadline, Misty's teaming up with writer Tracey Oliver, best known for her web series The Misadventures Of Awkward Black Girl, for the project which will tell the story of a group of "a young, hip and diverse group of aspiring dancers as they fiercely compete for places in a top ballet company."

Here at GL, we're huge dance fans, so we can't wait to hear more about this project. And we'll keep you updated, too.

Are you a fan of Misty Copeland? What do you think of watching a dance drama inspired by her life?
