Play for a Cause

Even with the hundreds of relief efforts going on around the nation, Haiti still needs more help in order to recover from the terrible earthquake.

Youth HandsOn Network and Hasbro, Inc. have come up with an awesome idea that will contribute earnings to SOS Children’s Villages, which purchases “pop-up” shelters for orphaned and injured children in Haiti. The event? PLAYATHON for Haiti. And anyone can join in to help.

Like a walk-a-thon, it involves participants getting pledges for playing in organized group activities with toys, games and other fun stuff for a certain period of time. The more you play, the more you contribute and participants either secure a flat pledge for playing or pledges for every 15 minutes they spend doing so. Face it, what’s an easier way to raise cash than having fun while bonding with friends or fam? It’s a no-brainer.

Recruit your friends, parents, grandparents, anyone willing to join in on your effort. It’s a great way to have a great time and to do a fab thing for those in need. The initiative will run through the end of March. To register your team of players and to find organized PLAYATHON events, visit playathonforhaiti.org.

Have you gotten involved in the Haiti relief effort? Who will join your PLAYATHON team? Blog it up, ladies!
