4 fab musical artists who got their start on YouTube

From funny Let's Plays to entertaining Storytimes, YouTube has given us so much—but did you know that it has also given us some of our fave musicians? That's right: In the age of the internet, you can jumpstart a music career from the comfort of your bedroom. It's high time we discuss the inspiring musicians that started by uploading videos, so here are 4 fab artists originally from YouTube that you should know about (like, ASAP).

1. mxmtoon (she/her)

@mxmtoon

Mxmtoon became known throughout the YouTube community for her charming ukulele covers and catchy original songs. Her more recent releases are just as adorable as ever and still prominently feature ukulele.

2. dodie (she/they)

@doddleoddle

Although singer/songwriter dodie has a similar past to that of mxmtoon, they have found their own distinct sound. Dodie's voice is quiet, jazzy and agile, and their lyrics are cryptic and colorful. Above all else, dodie is known for adding layers upon layers of ambient harmony to their music.

3. Conan Gray (he/him)

@conangray

Conan Gray is one of Gen Z's most emotional balladeers. His songs tell detailed stories of young love, and many of his bigger hits have become popular TikTok sounds. He even has an adorable friendship with fellow musician Olivia Rodrigo.

4. Jacob Collier (he/him)

@jacobcollier

Jacob Collier is a master of all things music. His songs are unbelievably groovy and complicated at the same time. He collaborates with numerous A-listers and has dipped his toes into many different genres. If you ever feel like listening to funky, experimental tunes, consider cranking some Collier.
