Everything you MUST do before back-to-school
Hey girls! While school is just around the corner, summer isn’t over yet. Looking for ways to spend your final days of relaxation? We’ve compiled a list of everything you gotta read, watch and listen to for the rest of sunny season.
FLICKS
So many cute, funny movies came out this summer, so how can you possibly watch them all? We narrowed them down for ya.
Julie & Julia Rated PG-13. Based on two true stories, where two women discover that “with the right combination of passion, fearlessness, and butter, anything is possible”. Meryl Streep plays Julia Child as she goes to cooking school, while Amy Adams plays Julie Powell when she decides to cook her way through Julia Child’s cookbook and write a blog.
(500) Days of Summer Rated PG-13. We’ve already told ya about this charming film that’s bound to bring on laughs. CLICK HERE to read our review.
Aliens in the Attic Rated PG. What happens when a group of kids embark on a family vacay, only to find they must fight off an attack by knee-high alien invaders—all while their parents remain clueless about the battle. The adventure/comedy stars Ashley Tisdale, Austin Butler and cutie Carter Jenkins (CLICK HERE to see what we’re talking about).
BOOKS
Finished your summer reading and need something fresh? These titles just came out and are perfect beach reads.
Lipstick Apology by Jennifer Jabaley Emily Carson’s parents die in a plane crash and her mother left her a note in lipstick “Emily, please forgive me”. Emily then moves to NYC and falls in love with two very different boys and has to choose between them—one wants her to forget her parents, and one forces her to remember.
Coffeehouse Angel by Suzanne Selfors Katrina leaves a homeless man some coffee and pastries. And it turns out the man was a guardian angel on a break. Wanting to repay her, he won’t leave until he fulfils Katrina’s deepest desire--but she can’t figure out what that is.
Fade to Blue by Sean Beaudoin Sophie Blue loves the color black and misses her father. Kenny Fade has expansive shoes and is amazing at basketball. They have nothing in common—except for the fact that they are both losing their minds.
JAMS
A few new albums by some of your favorite artist will have you happily humming all day long.
Battlefield - Jordin Sparks. If you like the single, you’ll love her new album. Its R&B feel will have you addicted in no time.
Here We Go Again – Demi Lovato. The single “Here We Go Again” is very popular, and some of her other potential hits off the album are definitely ones you’ll love, too—like “Remember December” and “So Far So Great”.
Leave This Town – Daughtry. The song “No Surprise” is already constantly on the radio and the rest of the tracks on the album are sure to follow.
TV SHOWS
Sure, school’s starting, but if there’s one beautiful thing about fall, it’s the return of some of our fave shows. Check ‘em out.
8/20 - Project Runway – This season’s going to be a little different (for starts, it’s on a new channel), but Heidi and Tim Gunn are still there to help the contestants sew their way to fashion week.
9/9 - Americas Next Top Model – We can’t wait for Tyra and this cycle!
9/14 - Gossip Girl – There’s bound to be more drama with Blair, Serena and the rest of New York’s elite teens.
9/21 - Dancing with the Stars – Who will follow in Shawn Johnson’s footsteps and take the mirror ball trophy?
What will you be watching, reading or listening to before it’s back to school? Blog about it, babes.
