Download for a Cause

As many of you girls may know, there was a devastating earthquake in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on Jan. 12. Luckily, help is on the way and momentum is gathering on a new project called Download to Donate for Haiti.

This new program is part of the non-profit Music for Relief (MFR), created by Linkin Park. And in partnership with the United Nations Foundation, Habitat for Humanity and the Dave Matthews Band’s BAMA Works Haitian relieve effort, MFR is working to provide immediate aid with food, water, emergency medical supplies and long-term sustainable housing for the people affected by the natural disaster.

In this Download to Donate program, artists such as The All-American Rejects, Enrique Iglesias and Lupe Fiasco to name a few, have donated never-before-heard songs as downloadable MP3s to raise awareness for the relief effort.

Absolutely anyone can download this album and donations are appreciated, but totally voluntary. Essentially, a download is a donation. Even the smallest donation is a real help to the Haitian people as they are lacking food, clean water, shelter and medical attention. Unreleased tunes can be found at Musicforrelief.org, as well as on the corresponding artist’s website.

As if you needed another reason to donate for an important cause, 100% of the money received for the downloaded album will go to the relief effort. So why not show your support and get downloading today.

Donate again!
Another similar relief effort, sponsored by Paste Magazine, is Songs for Haiti, featuring artists such as Ludacris, Hanson, Low Anthem, Switchfoot and over 200 others.

Similar to Download to Donate for Haiti, if you have donated through Paste or any other charity (you just need to state where), you will have full access to their “vault” of MP3s (many of which are unreleased tracks). All proceeds will go to the Haitian relief effort, with 100% of the money contributed through the Paste site to be evenly distributed to three different charities:

Doctors Without Borders
The Red Cross
Wyclef Jean’s Yele
