Ralinia Hi girls! My guinea pig is beige and black and under a year old. His fave foods are green peppers and apples. :)

ralinia Hi someone need to help me! I don't know how old my guinea pig is; i got him when he was pretty young like a baby about a month ago so now he is like 6 or 7 in long, but still small if that makes any sense.

TheColorsOfTheRainbow If he is six or seven inches I would say he is still very young, probably not over six months. At six months guinea pigs are considered seniors and they stop growing. The normal size for a sow is ten inches and for a boar it is eleven.

TheColorsOfTheRainbow Where did you get him? I got a guinea pig from PetSmart and they claimed he was four months old but he was still small. I think he was a runt because although he did grow, he was smaller than the average sow (sad), but he made that up in weight.

JJlove26 hey i'm the new treasurer. i finally got the guinea pigs i've been asking for.Their names are Erma-Jean and Ester. they are dark Abyssinian G-pig.and did you know all potatoes are poison to guinea pigs, i found out the hard way i had no idea

TheColorsOfTheRainbow Yes, I did know that potatoes are poisonous. Once my mom tried to give my guinea pig a potatoe chip and I ran across the room and smacked it out of her hand. Abyssinian guinea pigs are so cute!

Funnybunny45 All you need is a cage, water bottle, bedding, Timothy hay,guinea pig food pellets, and maybe a food bowl if it isn't included in the cage.

kpianoplayer hi! I'm new, my name is Katie, and I am going to get a guinea pig soon. What advice do you have? Where should I keep my guinea pig? is it okay to just get 1? or do i need to get 2 ( i heard they get lonely) where can I get the supplies the cheapest?

Funnybunny45 I got my stuff at PetSmart, but I'm not sure where the cheapest stuff is. You can get one and give it more love, but it really doesn't matter. Girls do better together than boys do. I have two boys, but they started to fight, so now I have two cages.

kpianoplayer thanks. I just got a piggy earlier today from Petsmart!! and we bought it a nice igloo and cage. it is a boy, i named it georgie! soooo cute but he won't come out of hiding inside of the igloo!oh well. He has to come out some time.

TheColorsOfTheRainbow PetSmart guinea pigs are genetically mixed up. My piggie inherited malocclusion and ended up getting surgery for it. It didn't last long and we couldn't afford another one so we had to put him to sleep. It was the saddest day of my life.

kpianoplayer Thank you so much for responding so quickly . . . I get so annoyed when I write asking a question to someone and they don't respond for days, or weeks, or months!! Ugh. Yeah so I found georgie outside of his igloo today, after we got back fromPF Changs’ but then he heard our voices when I came in to look at him and he got so scared he ran back in! Oh that silly boy. Hopefully he will be less scared and nervous tomorrow. We bought him a play pen! So do you guys really let your guinea pig outside of its cage for at least an hour?

Funnybunny45 No problem and i don't really have a play pen, I just lay on the floor and watch TV while one of my pigs lays on my stomach. Doing that lets them get used to you more. And your guinea pig has a really cute name!

kpianoplayer thank you. yesterday I set up georgie's playpen and put in a tunnel . . . he ran in and didn't come out!!! my dad had to turn it upside-down to get georgie out!!! he was fine though, not even a squeal came out of him. your guinea pig stays on u?

kpianoplayer Hey sorry I am asking you ANOTHER question, but I try to hold my GP and I know I'm holding him the right way but he keeps running under my arm and he never stays still. then when my dad holds him he purrs and is still. What gives? I'm the one who's around him most! I am the one to give him veggies!

Funnybunny45 You need one cage for them to breed, but once the babies are born you may need another cage for the babies because the dad will try to eat them.

glgirl1199 Do your piggles know the sounds that are made before they get their dinner? Mine squeak like crazy whenever a drawer in the kitchen or the fridge opens or closes. So cute!!!! <3

Funnybunny45 My guinea pigs used to squeak when they heard the fridge open, even when it wasn't for them, but now, once we moved, my pigs can't hear the fridge open, so they squeak whenever someone comes up the stairs.

Love Animals I am so glad I found this club I used to have a guinea pig but she passed away so enjoy them and give them lots of 💜💜 my guinea pig woul squeal like nuts when the fridge would open, we would walk by with fruits or when mom is cutting something ....

TheColorsOfTheRainbow My guinea pigs can beg. To teach them this all you have to do if hold treat by their nose and pull up. Not all can stand completely up though. Don't do this too often as it can hurt their legs.

Funnybunny45 It is hard to teach a guinea pig a trick. They don't learn near as fast as a dog or any other animal, so... yeah.

apple11311 my guinea pig squeak when they here a bag rumple. my guinea pigs also know how to stand on their hind legs and how to crawl on to your leg they use to be able to walk back to their cage until we moved. you people should really join my club
