hey girl!
in my advice section of my profile i promise that all advice i give is going to be honest. and in this case i agree it might be awkward. a suggestion may be if you bring 2 friends! does the friend you 2 agreed on have a boyfriend or girlfriend? if so that is always an option and group dates are always fun and less awkward in some situations. if the friend is single? no prob! just ask them if they would like to bring another friend whether it be of the same sex or different so that it is less awkward for everyone because it might be awkward for your friend as well if they start to feel left out or like a 3rd wheel.
to get yourself out of an awkward situation: if starting a new conversation doesn't work you can always try to be cute and funny about it that way it breaks the silence and maybe even starts up a new topic of conversation! you could say something like "gosh guys shut up already!" or "so....how are you guys? hows life?" this just lets the people around you know that you are comfortable and that its ok for them to be comfortable too! have fun!!

hey girlie! sorry it took awhile i responded yesterday but there was a backup with comments and mine got lost and not posted. so here's my suggestion:
with something like this its not always a good idea to sugarcoat things if you know what i mean. you have to tell it like it is. tell him what you told me! that you were going through some tough times and even though you know you may be coming off as indecisive you would really like it if you two could still go out but you understand if he doesn't think thats right. but be prepared girl if he doesn't think its the best idea then you have to accept it and try to let him go. good luck girlie! tell me how it goes and you know where to find me if you need anything else!!
