I really dislike Justin Bieber....I mean everyone LOVES him and quite honestly I thought he was a girl the 1st time I heard him sing. And I am not a trend follower so if i don't like something since everyone likes it.

I agree. I like JB but i dont like him. I think his music is great, but i refuse to like him as a person. what he does is super sweet and everything, but i hate how hes soooo popular just for looking great. its stupid.

Dear Mods~~
I'm kind of disappointed with the new GL Feb/March issue. I'm a big fan of GL and everything that you put into the issue, but Justin Bieber? Honestly? When I got my issue yesterday, I was very upset to see Justin on the cover. It shows me what our society has come to. Yes, people like him, but there is a line between liking him and an obsession. I understand that everyone at GL probably loves Justin, but not everyone is obsessed over him! Please take this into consideration for the next time you are considering a boy on GL's cover.
Also: in the section where readers write comments about the past issue, I noticed a typo. You said that Justin Bieber is the 1st boy cover for GL. Actually, it was the Jonas Brothers who got the 1st boy cover a couple years back. Please don't take this offensively.

MOD Hey, I've been thinking seriously about learning how to play the guitar, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to convince my parents to let me learn. You see, I used to want to learn how to play piano, then decided I didn't want to. My parents even had a friend who bought me a keyboard and offered lessons. Then, a couple years later, I joined my school's band learning the flute. I played for two years then quit. This time, I'm positive that I'll be really into playing guitar, but how can I convince my parents? What are some good reasons for them to side with me? Thanks and I hope you have a happy 2011! As for your question, you could always try teaching yourself, and then surprise them. My mom taught herself, and got good enough that she made her own record when she was 16. So, it can be done! You can look in the classified of the paper, or in thrift stores for a used guitar to start on. And, they have lots of books available that you can read. Or, you can watch videos to learn for free online. Then, you can show your parents how into it you are. By then, maybe they'll want to invest in real lessons for you Smile

Hey girl, I'm sorry you haven't been getting your mag!  I don't handle subscriptions myself, so I'm not totally sure what's up.  I know you've already been to the subscriptions page, but I think you should go (again!) - https://secure.girlslife.com/, and click "Find out when your subscription starts or expires."  Even if you sent in your subscription in July or August, it doesn't mean that's when it technically starts.  If that doesn't seem helpful, keep trying to contact them.  You can also call 410-426-9600.

You need to be over 13 to call them

I am a little disappointed with the new issue... some of the clothes and stuff were nice, but a lot of it was very pricey! I think GL should try to make their picks a little bit more affordable.
Also in the giveaway guide, there was a lot of excess information about items that weren't actually going to be given away as prizes. I know that the mag does advertisements to make money, but putting a picture of a nintendo DS and then having girls think that they might be able to win it is kind of... obvious, in a sense, that GL is doing it to rake in the cash. You have great legs, a long torso and a leaner body! Did you know models in many cases have to be at least 5 foot 8 inches?! In life, you have to work what you have, and if you are confident in what you were born with, people will learn to love it, too. All great beauties have distinctive attributes. You have your height! Hey girlie, I don't know where to start. I think you shouldn't stress, if your friend says she doesn't like your crush you should believe her. Also, you can start trying to start conversation with your crush so you guys can slowly ease into talking again. Maybe you can leave your mom a note about GL magazine and how you are interested.

This issue was great! I loved the "Have a Handmade Holiday" section. It had great gift ideas that I already had all the supplies for. The "Bake a Boyfriend Kit" is a great gift for all of my friends who love to bake. I am going to make the "Hot Chocolate Spoons" for my family's stockings. The make-up bag would be a great gift for all of my fashionista friends. (Plus-the Chocolate Mint Truffles look delicious!) I really think my friends and family will enjoy all of the home-made gifts Laughing

theres this guy that i REALLY like. I have one more question, I have this red thing on the sides of my nose, and it really bothers me. I think it might be from oil. But Im not sure exactly what it is. It has like mini pimples (lol) on it and its so bright red. I saw a dermo abt it and he gave me a cream for it but it only works on one side of my nose. THANKS FOR THE HELP!!

My mommy is dating one of her oldest friends (a man!) . They've been together for like a month and 3 days . They do a lot of stuff together . My brother and I haven't met the dude yet but my older sister has when she was little . A few days ago, I think it was monday the 16th, my mom got an email from him with pictures of him . I begged to see the pictures because I really wanted to see how he looks like . After I saw 2 pictures, I started crying. I don't know why ! My mom and the dude talked about it for a longgg time . D; Also, can you be scared of someone who is just ...too nice ? I know I am now, because the dude is just so nice and thats one of the qualities my mom loves about him . So, I have a problem. This girl keeps following me around ALL THE TIME! (Yes, she's my friend, but she's not my best friend or anything.) She is really getting annoying because she repeats a lot of things I say (like I agree or she'll say it to to someone else later) and she always likes everything I do and it doesn't really seem sincere because she likes EVERYTHING about me. Also, it's also starting to annoy my other friends because she follows me around to every class.(she will even run to catch up with me/us) And sometimes I just want to talk to my best friend and she just comes over acts like we are all BFFs and she always wants to work with me on every project. Last year she was nice and a good friend but now I feel like she's my shadow. I feel like it's mean to tell her to stop following me around but it's really getting on my nerves. Also I know copying is suppose to be flattering but now it's really not. Thank you for your help!

Maybe you could subtly try to get her to choose things and make
decisions. For example, if you're picking what to do in a group of
people, have her choose first and then you and your friends can agree
with her or suggest other options. Forcing her to try to have her own
opinion will help her become more confident in herself and then maybe
she won't feel like she has to follow you around everywhere. If she
won't stop despite your subtle hints, maybe you could mention something
to her like you really like hanging out with her, but you don't always
like it when she follows you everywhere. Let her know that it's good
for you to each spend a little bit of time apart. Just make sure you're
nice and polite! Good luck!

In September I told my mom to renew my subscription but instead she just subscribed to a new one. My original subscription was supposed to end in September but I have got both the Aug/Sept and the Oct/Nov. I have also been getting the ones from my new subscription so I have two of each but I don't get the new ones until much later (I just got the Oct/Nov issue last night!)I tried looking up my account information on this https://secure.girlslife.com/ but it said it couldn't find either of my accounts. Is there any other way to find out what is going on???

You can call the subscriptions department at 410-426-9600 or e-mail subscriptions@girlslife.com with your name, account numbers, address and problem. You have to be over 13, so if you're not, ask if your mom can contact the subscriptions department. Good luck!
