Please help! Every girl in my grade wears a bra, and i dont. Alot of them are
Flatter than me, i think i have boobs.. i have pretty big bumps i guess. I wear thisg
Training bra thing. But "it" still shows through, so i took the out the padding
Of one of my bathing suits and wear it under . But still doesn't give me any umph
I personally think i need a bra! But my mom andmy cousin always says i have no boobs.
How do i get my mom to buy me a bra? Im scared to ask! Please help!!

Hey girl! If you're feeling like it may not be fitting properly anymore, it's probably time to spring for a new one. It can be kind of awkward and uncomfortable to ask your mom about this stuff, but remember she can be your greatest source of info in these situations. Remember, she was a girl your age once too and she's been perfecting it for a while now. She knows all the tricks of the trade! Good luck!

Mod Mod Mod I really need some help! I am a 32b but my mom forces me to only wear training bras and says padded bras are for grown ups. Its not fair since everyone I know wears padded bras apart from the immature kids. I just want to have cup bras like everyone else and training bras my mom bought are too tight and hurt my boobs.







Hey girl!  Maybe you can compromise with your mom, how about considering thinly padded bras?  Tell her that you are very uncomfortable in the bras you own now and I'm sure she'll listen.  Good luck! xxoo

I'm 13, and I wear about C cup size. But I don't wear a bra, though! (I know my cup size 'cause my mom gave me this American Girl book about puberty when I started my period. There is a section in it about bras, and I used the chart to figure out what size I am.) It's not that I don't want to wear a bra, because, believe me, I do. I play softball, and my boobs are constantly bouncing around. It hurts! I don't wear a bra because my mom hasn't given me one. My boobs are huge, so why won't she buy me some? I've tried to ask her to take me to get some, but every time I try, I get über-nervous and chicken out. I don't know why I get scared, because I know she's been there before. What's wrong with me?! What should I do?

Mod please help! I'm 13 and I wear training and sports bras. All of my friends wear cup bras and I think I can start wearing them too. Do what you're comfy with! If you want mom along for support and advice, then ask her in person. Don't force it or get defensive - just be honest. "Mom, I think I'm old enough and kinda 'big' enough in the chest that I need a little more support, so I'd like to shop around for a good deal on a cup bra." Don't bring up your friends - the "everybody has one!" angle won't work here. But if you'd rather shop with your friends and spend your own money on the bra, go for it! Then just let mom know when you get home that you bought one Smile

Hey EM,

Try saving up your own money so mom doesn't feel forced to buy you one. That way, it's your own choice! Explain to her that you know you don't need a bra because your boobs aren't there, and it isn't even that "everyone else is doing it," but it's because you feel better, walk taller, and act more confident/out-going when you feel good about yourself. And if a simple thing like buying a bra helps you do that...it doesn't seem like too big of a deal Smile If you present it to mom this way, it might help her see things from your perspective!

Wanna hear something funny? I had this dress that scooped down really low in the back so I couldn't wear a regular bra. The fabric was thick enough though that i could just go braless. It felt soooooo awkward. my friend noticed and was like "What's going on?" I said I feel really weird becuz I don't have a bra on I felt kinda..... exposed lol Tong

Hey girl! Who says you have to change in front of your friends? You can always change in the bathroom if you feel uncomfortable. Everyone develops at their own pace, and your friends will probably be wearing their first bra soon too! If your friends make any comments that make you feel uncomfortable, be straightforward and tell them their jokes hurt. It could be likely that they are also sensitive about how their figures look too. Walk into that slumber party with confidence - you're going to have a great time!

I have really small boobs (like aa) and i like the support of the training bras i wear. The only problem is that the bumps on the straps (where you adjust them) pokes out through my shirt. Is there any way to make this less noticable?? Thanks.




Hey babe! Every bra has these, and you're probably the only one who notices, but they're totally normal. You can cover it up a little by wearing a cami or a tank under your shirt, but it's really not that big of a deal. xoxo

tell your mom how you feel--how you don't want to feel self conscious or uncomfortable when wearing your swimsuit (since it's already hard anyway)!  You want to feel confident! Let her know you don't want cups that look really unnatural...you just a little bit!

Hey girlie! If you're wearing a sports bra to exercise, I would suggest washing it every time you wear it. Other bras you can wear a couple times before you wash them. Hope this helps!

Hey chica! It sounds like you're starting to go through puberty, meaning you'll most likely get your period sooner, rather than later. And, wearing a bra to bed shouldn't affect your growth at all. It's just a myth. Not sure why you would want to though... so uncomfy to sleep in!

hey! well it might seem really big at a young age but as you grow older you'll realize that's about medium. sports bras can deemphasize your chest area.

I see boys a little differently then they do (they have crushes, of course) and they think boys rule my life, and I tell them I don't. Whenever my stomach hurts, they say it might be my "period". Hey chica, I'm sure you're beautiful! Don't feel bad about your body, you're still growing and your body is still developing. It's a good thing to not be boy crazy. That means you have other things going for you, and you aren't constantly chasing a boy. Talk to your friends and let them know how their comments are affecting you. Mod!!! So I always go to tjmaxx with my dad. But they have reallocate inexpensive bras that i realyy like!!! Hey chica! To avoid this mishap, I'd make sure to wear bras that match what you're wearing. Like for example, you wouldn't want to wear a red bra with a white, or light-colored shirt. Rather, you'd want to wear tan or white. If they ever make a remark to you, definitely let them know that it's not acceptable! They have no right to say anything, and technically, it's sexual harassment.

Hey chica!  There's not a specific number that a girl "should" have.  I think of it in terms of having bras that I need for different things - one strapless one, a few for working out, and a few other regular ones in different colors.  That's a really good question - I'm not sure exactly what's right as far as washing them!  Sports bras, or ones that you get sweaty, should be washed after one use.  Others you can probably wear a couple times before washing.  xoxo

I was so weirded out too when I started wearing a bra. I dont know why because now I dont but it must be because we go from not wearing one to wearing one and having guys look at us differently and we look at them differently to. That has to be it. Puberty does weird things to our bodies and our minds and it takes getting used to.

hey girlie!

there is definitely no rush in transitioning to a cup bra--trust me, you're body will grow in its own time, and you'll be wearing cupped bras for the rest of your life anyway! So just be patient during this time of growth--and don't worry too much about it.  You'll know you need to switch bras when you feel your body changing, and you'll feel that the training bra just doesn't provide enough support. So be patient--the time will surely come! Smile
