I personally think i need a bra! But my mom andmy cousin always says i have no boobs.
How do i get my mom to buy me a bra? Im scared to ask! Please help!!

Hey!  ask your mom again, and if she says you don't need one, say it will help your self confidence and that you will need one soon. good luck!

Hey!, so I'm a 32A and 12yrs old, I've bought a training bra last year for the second time and I was wondering of its time and appropriate for me to get a padded one. Lastly how can I ask my mom to get one for me?

Hey girl! If you're feeling like it may not be fitting properly anymore, it's probably time to spring for a new one. It can be kind of awkward and uncomfortable to ask your mom about this stuff, but remember she can be your greatest source of info in these situations. Remember, she was a girl your age once too and she's been perfecting it for a while now. She knows all the tricks of the trade! Good luck!

Mod Mod Mod I really need some help! I am a 32b but my mom forces me to only wear training bras and says padded bras are for grown ups. Its not fair since everyone I know wears padded bras apart from the immature kids. I just want to have cup bras like everyone else and training bras my mom bought are too tight and hurt my boobs.

Hey girl!  Maybe you can compromise with your mom, how about considering thinly padded bras?  Tell her that you are very uncomfortable in the bras you own now and I'm sure she'll listen.  Good luck! xxoo

I'm 13, and I wear about C cup size. But I don't wear a bra, though! (I know my cup size 'cause my mom gave me this American Girl book about puberty when I started my period. There is a section in it about bras, and I used the chart to figure out what size I am.) It's not that I don't want to wear a bra, because, believe me, I do. I play softball, and my boobs are constantly bouncing around. It hurts! I don't wear a bra because my mom hasn't given me one. My boobs are huge, so why won't she buy me some? I've tried to ask her to take me to get some, but every time I try, I get über-nervous and chicken out. I don't know why I get scared, because I know she's been there before. What's wrong with me?! What should I do?

MOD MOD MOD can ur parents see wat u post on ur phone?

Hey babe,

What you post on your phone as in text messages?  On phone bills, they can see the number you texted/photo messaged and the date and time.  As far as I know they can't see the actual message.

how do i ask my mom about getting my first bra since she also said that i needed one a few days ago.
one more thing where can i get cute, cheap, and comfy training bras?

by musicgurl111 on 12/22/2011 9:32:18 AM

Mod please help! I'm 13 and I wear training and sports bras. All of my friends wear cup bras and I think I can start wearing them too. I texted my mom and asked her if I could get new bras because mine were old. She ignored my text and changed the subject. I'm too scared to ask her to her face. Should I go buy one with my friends?

Hey girlie,

Do what you're comfy with! If you want mom along for support and advice, then ask her in person. Don't force it or get defensive - just be honest. "Mom, I think I'm old enough and kinda 'big' enough in the chest that I need a little more support, so I'd like to shop around for a good deal on a cup bra." Don't bring up your friends - the "everybody has one!" angle won't work here. But if you'd rather shop with your friends and spend your own money on the bra, go for it! Then just let mom know when you get home that you bought one Smile

I have absoultly no boobs at all my mom says i dont need one because i know i dont need one but i wear like super padded 1s because i have to have confidence causwe when i dont wear a padded bra i consider myself ugly and hate my!!!!!!!!

Hey EM,

Try saving up your own money so mom doesn't feel forced to buy you one. That way, it's your own choice! Explain to her that you know you don't need a bra because your boobs aren't there, and it isn't even that "everyone else is doing it," but it's because you feel better, walk taller, and act more confident/out-going when you feel good about yourself. And if a simple thing like buying a bra helps you do doesn't seem like too big of a deal Smile If you present it to mom this way, it might help her see things from your perspective!

by Nicole556 on 9/30/2011 10:06:29 PM

Wanna hear something funny? I had this dress that scooped down really low in the back so I couldn't wear a regular bra. The fabric was thick enough though that i could just go braless. It felt soooooo awkward. my friend noticed and was like "What's going on?" I said I feel really weird becuz I don't have a bra on I felt kinda..... exposed lol Tong

I have left my mom a zillion hints that I want to start wearing a cup bra, but she still hasn't responded. HELP?

Try talking to her face-to-face Smile

I do I have some bras but their not padded and all the other girls at school wear padded bras how can I ask my mum ??

P.S I just started high school. So I'm only 11

I have a feeling my mom wants me to have a bra, but she can't admit it! When we go to like shopping malls, and there are bras on the shelf, she looks at them....i think she doesn't know i know i might need one...what should i do?? Frown

Hey girlie!

Next time you're at the mall, pull your mom aside and ask her if she could help you pick out a bra, since you think you might need them.  I'm sure she'll help you out!

MOD MOD MOD MOD! I'm going to a birthday party at my friend's house in a couple days, and it's a sleepover so I'll probably be changing in front of my friends. Problem is, I just got my first bra, and it has cups. It's so awkward because none of my friends wear bras yet and I feel like the odd one out. What should I do?

Hey girl! Who says you have to change in front of your friends? You can always change in the bathroom if you feel uncomfortable. Everyone develops at their own pace, and your friends will probably be wearing their first bra soon too! If your friends make any comments that make you feel uncomfortable, be straightforward and tell them their jokes hurt. It could be likely that they are also sensitive about how their figures look too. Walk into that slumber party with confidence - you're going to have a great time!

I have really small boobs (like aa) and i like the support of the training bras i wear. The only problem is that the bumps on the straps (where you adjust them) pokes out through my shirt. Is there any way to make this less noticable?? Thanks.

Hey babe! Every bra has these, and you're probably the only one who notices, but they're totally normal. You can cover it up a little by wearing a cami or a tank under your shirt, but it's really not that big of a deal. xoxo

MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to get a bathing suit with cups in it but my mom doesn't think I need it. It bugs me though and makes me self conscious. Please help!!!!!!!!!!

hey girlie,

tell your mom how you feel--how you don't want to feel self conscious or uncomfortable when wearing your swimsuit (since it's already hard anyway)!  You want to feel confident! Let her know you don't want cups that look really just a little bit!

Should you wash a bra every time you wear it or s it ok to wear it more than once??

Hey girlie! If you're wearing a sports bra to exercise, I would suggest washing it every time you wear it. Other bras you can wear a couple times before you wash them. Hope this helps!

1. Say your name 10 times.
2. Say your mom's name 5 times.
3. Say your crush's name 3 times.
4. Paste this to 4 other quizzes. If you do this, your crush will kiss you on the nearest Friday, but if you read this and do not paste this, then you will have very bad luck! SEND THIS TO 5 QUIZZES IN 143 MINUTES. WHEN YOU'RE DONE PRESS F6 AND YOUR CRUSH'S NAME WILL APPEAR IN BIG LETTERS ON THE SCREEN. THIS IS SO FREAKY BECAUSE IT ACTUALLY WORKS

by Girl10 on 5/30/2011 12:29:41 PM

MOD MOD MOD my boobs are really sore. but i dont have my period yet. what does this mean? also, will it slow down the growth if i wear a bra to sleep? im a bit flat chested. (i wear a size 30A)

Hey chica! It sounds like you're starting to go through puberty, meaning you'll most likely get your period sooner, rather than later. And, wearing a bra to bed shouldn't affect your growth at all. It's just a myth. Not sure why you would want to though... so uncomfy to sleep in!

In your opinion, do you think a siz 36B is a big bra. A lot of the guys make fun of them.... What are some styles of clothes that make my bust look smaller? Thanks! Smile

hey! well it might seem really big at a young age but as you grow older you'll realize that's about medium. sports bras can deemphasize your chest area.

MOD MOD MOD! I'm feeling insecure about how I look. I'm at average weight but my size is almost at a cup. My friends have 12 to 28. I see boys a little differently then they do (they have crushes, of course) and they think boys rule my life, and I tell them I don't. Whenever my stomach hurts, they say it might be my "period". Whenever my friends have a stomach ache, they just suggest some medicine. Please help me!

Hey chica, I'm sure you're beautiful! Don't feel bad about your body, you're still growing and your body is still developing. It's a good thing to not be boy crazy. That means you have other things going for you, and you aren't constantly chasing a boy. Talk to your friends and let them know how their comments are affecting you. They probably aren't trying to hurt feelings. Let me know if this helps any! Smile

Mod!!! So I always go to tjmaxx with my dad. But they have reallocate inexpensive bras that i realyy like!!! But it's weird getting bras with my dad, my mom doesn't really like that store but I'm tired of wearing the same 3 bras, plus there a little big and i have a gap between the bra and my boob, so the bra will like point outwards and it looks awkward,, so do you have any advice how should ask my mom to take me to tjmaxx and get bras?????? Thank you Smile

Hey girlie -- simply tell her that you need new bras and you really like the ones at T.J.Maxx and wanted to know if she could take you (as it's awkward buying bras with your dad).

I THINK I'm going to need a bra soon. But I'm embarrassed! My friend is a little insensitive about these things. Plus, we have to change into gym uniforms for gym and she's in my gym class. She'll say something for sure! What do I do????

I remeber my first bra my sister and her friends were talking i showed them i new dress i got thewy like Mom! you need to get her a bra. and they started giggling. So my bought me five pairs and that the story.

mod modmod why does hair on ur legs grow back really stubbly when u shave? my mom let me shave and thats whats happening

Hey chica, Technically, your hair isn't any different than it was before.  However, since it is shorter, it feels more stubbly and coarse.  If you let it all grow back, it would feel the same as if you had never shaved at all.  xoxo

MOD MOD MOD!! I'm going to summer camp in a few weeks and I have been on the hunt for a sports bra,but none seem to work. What should I do??? Thanks!!

Hey chica! I'd go to either a department store or Victoria's Secret, and have one of the professionals help.

They're trained to do that, and they can measure you to find the perfect bra! Smile

mod mod mod im afraid that boys are going 2 notice my bras like if they see them showing thru my shirt and start teasing what do i do if they start making remarks?

Hey chica! To avoid this mishap, I'd make sure to wear bras that match what you're wearing. Like for example, you wouldn't want to wear a red bra with a white, or light-colored shirt. Rather, you'd want to wear tan or white. If they ever make a remark to you, definitely let them know that it's not acceptable! They have no right to say anything, and technically, it's sexual harassment.

by iloveecco on 5/15/2011 7:39:20 PM

MOD MOD MOD How many bras do you think a person should have. Also, how ofter do you think you should wash them? Thanks Smile

Hey chica!  There's not a specific number that a girl "should" have.  I think of it in terms of having bras that I need for different things - one strapless one, a few for working out, and a few other regular ones in different colors.  That's a really good question - I'm not sure exactly what's right as far as washing them!  Sports bras, or ones that you get sweaty, should be washed after one use.  Others you can probably wear a couple times before washing.  xoxo

I really hate my boobs, I'm a 32AA and my little sister is bigger than I am! I always feel like my boobs should be bigger and I wish they were, should I get a pushup bra to give me a little... um.... umph, or should I just stick with what I have. Do they even make pushup bras that size? Or what kind of bra would you suggest??? Thanks in advance!

I was so weirded out too when I started wearing a bra. I dont know why because now I dont but it must be because we go from not wearing one to wearing one and having guys look at us differently and we look at them differently to. That has to be it. Puberty does weird things to our bodies and our minds and it takes getting used to.

by luckykel on 5/14/2011 9:45:24 PM

ok so im ten years old in the 5th grade and wear a padded training bra. when do you think that i will grow into cup bras. my friend already wears a 36A and it makes me feel awkward when she sleeps over because she wears one and i dont. she says i will probably grow into one in 6th grade but i cant really take it from her because she doesnt seem to know for sure. thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!

hey girlie!

there is definitely no rush in transitioning to a cup bra--trust me, you're body will grow in its own time, and you'll be wearing cupped bras for the rest of your life anyway! So just be patient during this time of growth--and don't worry too much about it.  You'll know you need to switch bras when you feel your body changing, and you'll feel that the training bra just doesn't provide enough support. So be patient--the time will surely come! Smile

Hey! So I went to VS PINK last, like, September, and none of the bras would fit me!!! I have a small chest, and the lady said, " Um, why don't you come back in 6 months." Hahahaha it was hilarious. But I am wondering if you know of any "cool" places to get a bra that will fit!

I am outgrowing my training bras and i have 1 real bra that fits me pretty well now. i want to talk to my mom about getting bigger bras but its alwats really awkward talking to her about it. she either lectures me about puberty or teases me about it (in a loving way, of course). i really need new bras but i dont know how to get past the embarassment. please help.

Hey girlie -- you should sit her down and tell her about your current situation (not having well fitting bras) and ask her if the two of you could go bra shopping. When it comes to the embarrassment, you could even try mentioning it to her Smile

Hey girlie,

If they are sagging you might want to try an underwire bra for a tad more support.
