Before, scientists assumed larger germ-filled sneeze and cough droplets traveled farther than smaller droplets, and so they thought the “blast radius” was limited to the distance that large droplet could travel. This recent study shows that smaller droplets travel farther—up to 200 times farther, in fact. That means your uncovered sneeze or cough could spread bacteria or viruses to many more people.
