LIFE

Dear Carol

Friends 'til the end?

I have a friend who’s a year older, and we’ve been friends since I was 5. She says I’m her BFF, but I think she had a birthday party with her other friends and didn’t invite me. Last year at her party, I ended up not sleeping over because only two of her friends were nice to me! Should I ask her if she had a party without me?

Dear Friends ‘Til The End,

Maybe she didn’t invite you because things didn’t go so well last year – and she didn’t tell you because she didn’t want to hurt you. If your goal is to stay friends, don’t expect to be a part of everything she does. Enjoy the time you do spend with her rather than worrying about who else she’s hanging with.

I hope you two can resolve things, but keep making new friends. Not all friends are “friends ‘til the end.” But some are.
