I think I have crabs! What should I do?

Check these out, too...

  • Will my yeast infection go away by itself?
  • Why do my fingers turn red when I'm cold?
  • Does it matter to guys that I'm different?
  • Do guys only care about chest size?
  • Why is my tummy so rumbly?
I've found tiny white little things in my pubic hair and I also have other symptoms of crabs, but I'm too scared to tell anyone! Who should I tell first? Help!

First thing’s first: We know it’s embarrassing, but you really ought to tell your mom. You should go to your physician or gynecologist ASAP to see if the symptoms you’re experiencing really are crabs, and to have a treatment prescribed. Treatment for crabs usually consists of medication, either prescription or over-the-counter. You’ll also need to wash all of your bedding, towels and recently worn clothes in hot water. Trust us, life is just easier when Mom knows what’s going on.

Crabs (or pubic lice) are typically considered to be a sexually transmitted disease, or STD. The lice are most often transferred from body to body during sexual contact, but they can also be acquired by sharing already infected bedding, towels or clothes.

They usually cause intense itching, most often at night. You might be able to see grayish-white insects in your pubic hair, or the pinhead-sized nits clinging to the hair. You can pick up a nit comb at any drugstore to remove the nits. You might also see bluish-gray marks on your private parts and  thighs from the bites lice leave.

Bottom line? Tell mom your suspicions and get yourself to the doc immediately, babe. Whether it’s crabs or not, you need to get this sitch taken care of.

So wait. 'Down there' I have white flakes that just look like dandruff, they rarely itch, I just thought they were just there for not mosturizing...right? Also like if I itch down there...some hairs will come out...but not a ton, but a little....is this crabs? (Personally I dont think so, because I dont itch a lot...)Please answer ASAP
~Confused About Crabs!

hey girlie,

a little itching shouldn't be a problem--but if it continues for an extended period of time or bothers you during your regular activities, then I would suggest seeing a doctor! It doesn't hurt to get it checked out if it continues to bother you--better safe than sorry!

I used to be bffs with this girl and we haven't been talking ever since this fight we had months ago. Before when we were friends I made her a card which hundreds of people signed. I made it because she's moving away really soon. Since we aren't
Friends anymore I'm wondering if I should recycle the card? Or not. help!

hey girlie,

you should definitely give her the card! she deserves to hear all the good things people have to say to her.  Besides, I don't think it's ever wise to hold a grudge against anyone--since she is moving away, I think you should try to talk to her again so you guys can part ways on good terms.  She was your bff at one point, so i'm sure there were many reasons why you guys were such good friends.  But yes, take the high road and give her the card! Smile

MOD MOD MOD!
help me everytime my BFF likes a guy he always likes her back!! but for me that never happens! my other friend says it's prob cuz she always flirts with the guys and I'm more shy...so is there anything I can do to flirt? or at least get the cutie I like to notice me!! something please!!!!

hey girlie,

Don't worry--learn to feel comfortable in your own skin and conversations with guys will come more naturally! Confidence is definitely key--and always flash your beautiful smile Smile  I always suggest being friends with guys first--don't think so much about "making" the guy like you--just try to get to know him and talk about things you guys have have in common!  Here are some icebreakers you can try too:

I have a yeast infection and I have cream for it. But, sometimes when I get sweaty with it on, I find like black specks. I asked my mom but she said it might be dried blood, or means I'm about to star t my period. I should listen to her, but I want some answers from other people.
