My world is falling apart

Check these out, too...

  • Play hard to get--without coming off snooty
  • YOLO or "Oh, no"? When taking a risk is the right thing to do
  • The Real Deal: Why guys hate shopping
I think I'm suicidal...my world is just falling apart.  I have one friend who I can really count on, but no one else. Please try to save me from myself.

Hold on, babe. I know it’s trite, but things really do get better. If you need to talk to anyone about anything at all, you can anonymously call a number of different toll-free hotlines: Try 800-SUICIDE of 1-800-273-TALK for the National Suicide Hotline and the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, respectively.

Reach out to your friend
Your friend loves you and doesn’t want to lose you. I’d bet she’d do anything she could to help you through this difficult time. If you have not yet leaned on her and told her how you’re feeling, do so now. Remember, even if you think everyone else is against you, you still have this one lifeline…and countless others who would hate to see you in pain. Stay connected to them and know that they need you just as much as you need them.

Ask for help
If you think you can’t trust your parents, or that they won’t help, it’s time to find an adult who can. I know it hurts and it’s hard to trust people you don’t know terribly well, but now’s the time to find faith. Speak to a close family member, a teacher, a guidance counselor, a member of your church or youth group, a coach, even your best friend’s parents. No one wants to see you hurt yourself, so let them help you get the professional help you need.

You’re not alone
Whatever you’re going through, remember that you are never without a support system. Even if you feel like no one cares, somebody is always there watching out for you. Maybe it’s your English teacher who has noticed that you’ve been quiet in class lately, your soccer coach who thinks you look a bit down. Talk to them. They want to help. Even here on girlslife.com, you can find girls whose (virtual) shoulders are there to cry on.

Find a happy place
In the meantime, try to do the things you once loved, whether that’s running through sprinklers or scribbling in your notebook. Throw yourself into activities that will distract you from what’s going on at home or at school. Excelling in something, no matter what that something is, will bring you immeasurable confidence and self-worth.

Remember, babe: We’re right here with you.

I can only imagine how tough things are for you. Because we wish you only the best, it’s extremely important that you speak to a trusted adult, such as a family member, doctor, guidance counselor, teacher, etc.

MOD? im suicidal. i use to cut myself 4 months ago but my bro found out and forced me to stop. i hate my life. theres family wars nearly every night, that lead to me being unable to sleep. im basically depressed and i cant take it no more. i use to be the kind, happy, popular girl; but now i cant stand being or talking with anyone, i just feel like i wna b alone all the time. i get panick attacks quite alot, if im stressed about something (most probably family probs) i start throwing up and getting headaches, cramps, and cant breathe properly; this happens quite often, nearly everday. If i ever get some sleep i always wake up in the middle of the night and randomly cry. In addition, i use to b an A* student now im D+, i cant concentrate in any classes because of my greif. when i use to get sad in the past i wud either draw or write poems, but now i cant bring myself to do either. theres know one who could understand, and i they can understand, i cant trust. so i have no one. i wna die

Hey zirror, I know how you feel. I used to get really depressed and sad too. The only way you are going to get rid of those emotions is to 1. have a desire to want to change and 2. have a reason to get your old life back. Try making a list of all the things you can be grateful for in your life, and this can include small things. Even listing the fact that you have a computer to ask for help can go on the list. You definitely have to include having a good brother who cares about you. Doing things that make you happy will help as well. I used to watch funny tv shows and movies to stop being sad. If you're religious you can always pray or if spirtual meditate. To meditate find a quiet place in your home, close your eyes relax and try to quiet your thoughts. You can do this by visualizing positive images or repeating a positive phrase to yourself. Hope this helps! Leave me a comment on my profile if you want some more advice. Xoxo Smile Smile Smile

Hey Sam Cool1038, well I'm glad to here you're doing better even though you're worried you're going to relpase. I know that all that stuff is really hard to deal with, and you've really come a long way. One thing that may help you, especially since you can't talk to your parents, is writing your feelings down. Grab a notebook, journal, diary, computer, whatever and just jot down everything you're feeling. You can draw things if you want, write incomplete sentences, make symbols anything. Just getting whatever is in your system out will make you feel better. If you have any hobbies or interests start those again. For example, if you like to draw start drawing again. Having something to channel your energy into will also help. Hopefully this will make you feel better! Xoxo

Hey girl,

If you can't talk to your guidance counselor, there are tons of other options! A family member, teacher or doctor can also help. You can also speak to professionals at nineline.org who can help you get through this difficult time.

MOD ? Since third grade ive been bullied. Im and 7th now and it still goes on. Also my family is constantly fightong and im always in to much stress. Either im on my bed with a lighter and a metal hair clip burning myself or in the bathroom throwing up. Every time i try to go to family to talk about it they yell at me. When i was born my real birth mother toke off. I dont even know her. Im suicedal ( Excuse my terrible spelling Dx ) and I know it. When ever I try to fit in at school I just make a fool of myself. My dad recently blocked websites where i had friends that were helping me threw this depression. They are taken away from me now and all i have is my bf..He helps me alot. Please dont refer a help line. It doesnt work for me anymore.

Hey girl,

I know you feel like you're totally hopeless, but there ARE still options for you to get help here. So your family has its own problems and isn't listening. I know that's disappointing and can really get you down, but you have friends and your BF to lean on! You also have adults at school, like your teachers and counselors. You don't need to try to pretend to be someone else around them. Make an appointment to talk to them and you can be yourself - you can talk about what's bothering you, let out your emotions, and even get advice. Counselors are trained to deal with all sorts of problems and have heard it all. You won't freak them out or stump them with yours! I really think it's worth talking to someone about everything you're feeling. You're a REALLY strong girl, but even strong girls can use a person to talk to <3333
