Unfortunately, babe, unless you are on hormone regulators like birth control pills, there’s no sure-fire way to make Aunt Flo hit the road. You can make the whole thing more comfortable and easier to handle by drinking lots of water, which will help your body flush out everything it needs to. Stay away from super salty food to avoid bloating, and exercise regularly to fend off cramps.

Mod mod mod Okay, I have two questions. First of all, on Saturday, I got home really late, and went to bed without thinking (I'm on my period right now.) I was wearing my favorite white-ish, basically off white, pants and I didn't even change my pad. I bleed through and stained my jeans. How do I get it out?! And second, my period slows way down when I workout. Like, almost stopping. I ran out of tampons the other day, so I just wore a pad this morning when a went for a run. When I got back, there was barely any blood. But then it just went back to normal after that. Is that normal? Is it something I should be worried about? If so, should I talk to my mom about it? What should I say to her?? Sorry for ALL the questions, but I'm worried... Thanks.(: Hey babe, Your pants should be fine as long as you put some stain stick or other stain solution on them! I don't think it's strange for your period to change depending on how active you are. It's bound to fluctuate all the time! If you're worried though, asking your mom is a good idea. Jordan S.

A few brands that sell lights are: Tampax Cardboard Tampax Pearl plastic, Tampax Pearl Compak plastic, Playtex Gentle Glide plastic (comes in a multi-pack of light and regular absorbencies only), Playtex Sport plastic (also comes in a multi-pack of light and regular absorbencies only)
by mainbunny1 on 6/15/2012 10:18:09 AM
summergirl190, I can understand your situation. I worry about that too... but I think what I am going to do and what you should is to buy tampons with a light absorbency. Then change it when you feel you need too, but if your period is really light you can keep it in for up to 8 hours but not over. Plus, even if it is not full, they are so tiny that they should not hurt anyway. It is your choice in the end, however. If you do not feel it is safe for you to use even the light ones, that's okay. Plus, don't worry, your period probably will get heavier as your body gets into a normal cycle.
by mainbunny1 on 6/15/2012 10:07:05 AM
okay so i got my period last month. but the problem is that it is sooooo light!! sometimes its so light i dont know if it is actually my period or just spotting. im afraid to use tampons sometimes (i already know how to though) because im afraid itll hurt when i take it out cause it isnt full!! help!!
by summergirl190 on 6/14/2012 10:08:48 PM
Mod Mod Mod... sorry for all the questions first off. so if I have a tampon in and i go to the bathroom but it doesn't need to come out yet do I still have to put in a new tampon or what do I do? Thanks a bunch!!! Hey babe, If you don't feel the need to change it yet then you don't have to! Jordan S.
by Cowsrule11 on 6/13/2012 8:07:41 PM
Mod mod mod... So if I use a tampon does that not make me a virgin? Just curious. Thanks so much! Hey chica, No! That is definitely a rumor. Losing your virginity and putting in a tampon are two completely different things, you are definitely still a virgin. Jordan S.

MOD MOD MOD! I just got my period... I went to the bathroom and there was blood in my underwear and when I wiped it was there too. It wasn't really dark though. And I had cramps and my stomach was churning. But, I haven't had it since that one time, and that was three days ago! I didn't even have it again on that same day! I though that I got it but maybe I didn't.... my mom said that it might just be really light. What do you say???

I have been going through puberty for a year now. I have all the signs(discharge, boobs, hair, etc). I really want my period for some reason.. But it took my sister about almost 3 years after she started puberty to get her period. Also, I am a gymnast so I have to use tampons when i do get it. and i have a question. i have yellowish discharge and i pee myself when i laugh too much with friends. usually because i hold in my pee a lot... but even at any time of the day when i dont really have to pee.. i will go in my pants. its so embarrassing. and i dont have a mom so i dont know what to do.. please help thanks

MOD MOD MOD I use U by Kotex for tweens, is tht a good type of pad?? I just tried it out a couple of hours ago....will it hold all the blood on??? Also, I started my 4 or 5th period...is it strange for my period to start on april 2nd and start again on april 30th?? I thought it happens 1 month later on the same day but its always different! Also, tomorrow I have gym class, what should I do to protect from leaking( also: i go 2 a all girls skool so should I bring pads to skool, i see others do it all the time???) Hey babe, At this age your flow is bound to be irregular, it really won't become predictable until your later teen years. Yes, your pad should hold it sufficiently, but if it doesn't then your best bet is to give tampons a shot. Jordan S.

MOD MOD MOD i have a question. when ever i run or play sports i get a lot of sweat in my underwear and i know its sweat not discharge. anyway where is the sweat coming from is it coming from my legs or my vagina? and how can i make it not fell as wet "down there" thank you so much Hey girlie, Your body sweats all over, but some areas have more sweat glands than others, like between your legs. You can't really make it occur less, but you can wash more thoroughly where you sweat more. Jordan S.

MOD MOD MOD!!! last question, lol Okay, so I'm on my period and I was like cleaning up down there, like wiping until there was completely nothing, this is kinda nasty, but I was wondering how big your vagina was like the actual vagina itself, so I stuck my finger up there... Did I masturbate by doing that??bc now I'm like really grossed out so yeah, Just wondering. I wouldn't consider that masturbation, no. You didn't intentionally do it with some kind of pleasurable aim. Even if it was, that wouldn't be anything to be grossed out by. By the way, your actual vaginal canal is only a few inches long. Jordan S.

MOD MOD MOD MOD!!!!! Hi so I'm on my period and I'm having really really bad cramps, so I was thinking about taking a hot bath, but I read that your not supposed to take a bath while your on your period.. Is this true??? also, should I tell my mom about my cramps and see if she has any advice. And my periods heavy and it's only the second day!!! HELP!! Thanks Hey girlie, There's absolutely nothing wrong with taking a bath while you're on your period. If anything, it should help soothe your muscles. And your mom should have some advice, so why not tell her! Jordan S.

MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD!!!!! so i really have a problem that i cant get over. im in 6th grade and mostly all of my friends are 12 and im 11. people say that most girls get their period at 12 and im afraid that all the other girls will get their period before me and i cant stop thinking about it every day! any suggestions on how to get my mind off of it??? Hey girl, There's really no reason to want to have it right now. Every girl will get it at a different time, whenever their bodies are ready. Anyways, in the end, nothing really changes once you get your first time period. You're still the same girl. Try to distract yourself by reading, of focusing on schoolwork, sports, etc. Jordan S.

It drives me CRAZY! PLEASE!! Thank I'm so sorry, babe, but there really is no healthy way to get rid of your period. The pills on this link are definitely not something you want to be doing, they have not even been studied fully yet. At some point you will be able to cut down on your periods when you're sexually active and are taking birth control. But for now it will only be harmful to your body if you resort to desperate measures by taking pills such as these. Jordan S.

by volbassof99 on 3/20/2012 8:37:39 PM
Hey, got a weird question here. I'm going to be starting softball soon. I went through basketball with my period, but it was hard considering all the running. Are tampons REALLY safe? I was going to try them on my next cycle, but I read a few sites and I got kind of scared. TSS? What is it and is it common? I REALLY don't want to have to go through a sport with a pad, so should I try? And I want to try it on my own, sense my mom isn't really girlie and she's basically used a pad her whole life. Would I be okay if I used one once or twice a cycle at first? Or should I just NOT use them?

When it comes using tampons, they say you shouldnt use one just to practice if you arent having your period because a few reasons. First you may be dryer down there, there are times when we are just more lubricated down there and if you arent you can use some personal lubricant like KY or Astroglide. And then if you are practicing, you shouldnt accidentally leave it in for long periods of time, so you should just insert it and then take it out soon after to see what it feels like.

MOD MOD MOD i was wondering, iv heard u shouldnt insert a tampon when u dont have a period but i have also heard u can but its just a bit harder. whats right???????? Hey babe, Truth is, there's no difference. Considering how the point of a tampon is to be used during your flow, it shouldn't ever be more difficult to put it. If anything it'd be harder when you're not on your period/haven't begun it yet. Jordan S.

MOD MOD MOD!!! i out in my first tampon today and it went in pretty good and came out pretty good. but when i pushed it in it kept sliding out a few centimeters so i could still see it. and when i tried sitting down it felt a little uncomfortable and same with when i was standing up. do u have any advice for next time that will help this?????????? Practice makes perfect. As is, your body has no idea what's going on. It could be that it's not used to something being there or it could be because you haven't quite got the hang on putting it in yet. Jordan S.

I'm twelve and I have hair down there and its a little thike but i dont have alot i don't have big boobs but they still hurt I don't have armpit hair I'm pretty tall for my age and is it safe for me to try a tampon on just to see what it feels like? Plez answer soon thanx
Hey Hello kitty love, of course you'll get your period girl. Some girls get theirs later on in life and that might be the case with you. You can practice inserting it, but it's probably better to wait until you're on your period. When you're having your period, it's easier for the tampon to slip in because it is more moist down there. If you do decide to pratice get a small one and take it out right away. Hope this helps! Xoxo

MODMODMOD ok soo help i have only had my period for a couple of times but i havent had a period in like two months and my mom says if i dont have it she will take me to the doc! ihelp is that a bad thing to not have it when you first start? i really dont want to go to the doc! help!
Hey radiolovergirl, it can take up to 2 years for your period to become regular and stick to a certain scheldue, so maybe that's what is going on. I would head to the doctors just to be on the safe side. They'll tell you what you need to know. Hope this helps! Xoxo
by radiolovergirl on 2/29/2012 5:41:02 PM
Mod! Mod! Mod! I have a couple of really important questions i need you to answer. Ok the first one is i am going to start using tampons which size do you suggest me using first? I am a regular but most the time low flow i guess you could say.The second question is do you HAVE to use a tampon when you swim if you are on your period or will it just stop when you hit the water? And thirdly i am really scared to start using tampons bc all of my friends have told me that they could get stuck up in you and im afraid one will get stuck up in me. And it would be soo emmbarrassing to have to go to the doctor to get that removed so is it true? Thanks sooooo much! xoxo Hey babe, Generally, I'd stay stick with a regular unless there are any drastic increases or decreases in your flow. For when you're swimming, a tampon will still work underwater. It's actually one of the only ways to hold back your flow while you're in the pool. As far as them getting stuck up there, that's nearly impossible. It can happen in very very rare cases only. Jordan S.

MOD! I've had discharge for like 2 years now and i still havnt had my period. is this normal?? Hey babe, Discharge really doesn't have very much to do with your period. It's your body's natural way of keeping things neat and healthy down there. Jordan S.

birth control is a topical subject, and it's obvious that not everyone has the same views on it, so I'm sure a lot of us would agree that you should refrain from telling us what to believe about it. You give us lots of advice about other things, and we trust you, so please don't give us "advice" about controversial things that go against some people's religion.

I just got my period today. I am very unhappy, and I feel like crying. I feel depressed, and like I can't have fun. My mom wasn't happy that I was upset about getting my period. I feel uncomfortable talking about my body, or anything such. It makes me feel very strange and weird. I don't want to feel that way, but I just do. My period is bugging me, because I don't want it. I know it makes you a woman and such. But I feel depressed, and like I want to die inside. My mom seemed disappointed at my sad reaction. I really just want to cry all day. I am not happy about this. I want to be a woman, just not this way. I didn't want it to come this early. I am only 12. And I wasn't expecting it. Please help me speed it up, and help my feel happy about this. I don't want my mom to hate me. Thanks

u usually put a tampon in standing up with ur legs spread out
by iloveballet&singing on 2/17/2012 10:01:47 PM
MODMODMODMODMODMODMOD This is an embarrasing question, but here goes. ive had my period for 5 yrs and just today tried a tampon for the second time to just practice (im due for my period any day now....i can feel it coming). i inserted it lying on my back with my legs spread (awk, i know) and i put it in. i didnt push in the applicator (i didnt wanna waste another tampon) and i took it out...and my vagina made a farting noise! a little bit of clear stuff came out (at least it felt that way) it was sooo gross and i was sooo scared........wat happened? and why? am i normal? HELP! Oh, don't even worry, girl. This is all completely normal. The "farting noise" is called queefing. Air gets caught in between your legs rather easily, especially when inserting a tampon. The sound is just the air escaping/rushing out. It's nothing to be embarrassed about. Every girl does it. The clear stuff that came out is also normal, it's just kind of a down-there "natural lubricant." It keeps everything healthy inside. Jordan S.

Yeah, when it comes to being on the pill.... 50% more teens are on than pill than 10 years ago. And while some of it is because of hormonal things more of it is just because we are dating when we are younger. In other countries its even more of the teens who are on the pill.

Birth control-does work! I agree the only way to make our periods "hit the road" is to get on birth control. My cousin has been on it since she was 13 and some of my friends have either been on it for a while or recently just gotten on it. Some because they had period problems and some because they started dating and wanted to be safe. I recently had a talk with my mom about it but it wasnt a long talk. I think a lot of us would be amazed if we knew how many of us were on it. I was doing some studying and I think its about 30% or more of girls our age who are on birth control, so its kind of common. Plus if you go to the gyno the doctors recommend it if you start dating and are thinking about getting serious.

Birth control pills are NOT wrong! There's nothing wrong with being safe and smart. And there are lots of other uses for birth control pills than just to prevent pregnancy, they can also be used to regulate your period. Some girls go a whole month with a period, but hey its your call.
