4 ways to prevent stretch marks

  • Fast fixes: 3 products that'll fix your blemish overnight
Imagine this sitch: You’re trying on a new suit, struttin’ your stuff in front of the mirror, striking pose after pose…until you notice those pale, silver blemishes that stand out against your skin. Total nightmare, right? Those blemishes are called stretch marks, sweetie, and we’re all probably gonna get them at some point in our lives. But hey, that doesn’t have to happen this summer, right? Prevent these not-so-pretty lines, pronto, with our best tips ever.

Moisturize

Taking care of your skin is one of the best defenses there is against stretch marks. Look for products packed with aloe vera, shea butter, cocoa butter, tea tree oil and vitamins A and E. Other powerful ingredients to hunt down? Retinoids, alpha hydroxyl acid, peptides and hyaluronic acid—all of these babies help restore and regenerate skin cells. Our pick: Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula, Massage Lotion for Stretch Marks, $6 at drug stores.

Eat right

Foods with zinc, vitamins A, C and E, along with protein are major for your skin. Eating lean meat, chicken, nuts, fish, citrus, leafy greens, yellow and orange veggies, brightly colored fruits, eggs and milk will def keep your skin lookin’ good. Cut back big time on foods high in trans fat and refined sugar. Basically, the longer the list of ingredients on the back of the box, the less natural the food is. Opt for all natural whenever possible.

Work out

Exercise isn’t just what keeps your abs lookin’ fab. Workout out for just 20 minutes a day, five times a week will make you feel more energetic, maintain a healthy wait and strengthen your skin. How’s that for added benefits?

Drink up!

Gulping down H2O 24/7 will keep your complexion clear. Opt for at least eight glasses of the clear stuff a day—and no, juices and sodas don’t count. Water is what keeps you hydrated, preventing your skin from drying out, becoming oily and easily damaged.

will the palmers cocoa butter lotion work if you already have stretch marks? and if i start using it now will the marks be gone by summer? i workout and eat mostly healthy foods so i have noo idea why i even have stretch marks...

Hey girl! I am in the same boat as you. One day stretch marks just showed up on my hips out of nowhere and I hadn't gone through any body changes. I think the cocoa butter should help to lighten them a bit but you might need a stronger product to make them vanish completely.

Ok, so spring is here, and that means bikini shopping time! The only problem? I have a lot of hair around my bikini line... and if I shave, I get really itchy bumps & it hurts and shows. So I'm thinking of getting bikini area removal cream. Do you think it will work? Plus, I bought some pool side shorts that I can wear over my bathing suit... is it weird? I just don't like my "bottom half" and would feel more confortable with shorts that I can swim in, over top.

Wearing shorts is not weird at all. Also I think a cream should work.
