5 dos and don'ts of BTS outlet shopping

Everyone knows the best part about school starting is the fresh chance you get to rock new notebooks, new hairdos, and of course, new clothes!  Fall shopping is super fun, and outlets are a great way to get the stuff you want for way less than you would pay at the mall! We got some tips from Andrea Woroch, a money saving expert who has been featured by Good Morning America, NBC’s Today, CNNMoney and New York Times.  Follow her on Twitter (@AndreaWoroch) for more savvy tips!

DO plan ahead

You want to know where to go and what you’re going to look for before you leave the house.  Andrea suggests using OutletBound.com to help you figure out where the nearest outlet mall is and where all the great sales are. Your mom and dad will appreciate you knowing what to look for, and they might even see something they like!

DON’T go overboard

Outlets are a great way to get big name brands for less money, but just because something is at an outlet, it doesn’t mean it will necessarily be in your budget.  “Prices on outlet items may not be as low as you expect,” Andrea says. You can expect items to go down about 30% from their store price due to sales and promotions, so set a limit with your parents on how much you’re willing to spend on any given item and stick to it.

DO look for coupons

You can save additional money by looking for coupons online.  Andrea suggests CouponSherpa, which can help you find more discounts wherever you go.  Also, check to see if the outlet offers any special deals.  Some of them have a coupon booklet you can buy for extra discounts!  Who doesn’t want to save even more money?

DON’T assume quality

Just because it’s got a nice brand name on the label, an item might not necessarily be made out of high quality stuff!  Some brands make clothes just for their outlets, so you might be getting things with cheaper material that won’t stand up as well as the full price stuff in the regular stores.  Be cautious and ask a manager if the clothes are overflow from the store or made for outlets.

DO have fun!

A lot of outlets aren’t super close to cities or big towns, so make a day trip with mom and some friends and hit up your fave stores.  You can start early in the morning and end the day at home with a fashion show, strutting your stuff in your awesome new clothes!

Blog about it: Will you be going BTS outlet shopping this year? What are your best tips?

I definitely will be going BTS outlet shopping. My best tips are to make two lists: one of stuff you absolutely need, and one of things you would like if you have any extra money. Also, make a budget and try not to exceed it.

MODMODMOD
Is there such a thing as "too much vitamins/minerals"? I know i need more of certain ones in my diet (magnesium, zinc, that sort of thing) but i cant get a specific vitamin for each and most of the foods that contain large amounts of them are foods i dont like. Would it be bad to take 2-3 multivitamins everyday (like 2 in the AM one at night)? I looked on the bottle and it says you need one but it didnt have any warning or max per day. Thanks in advance Smile

hey! I think a lot of vitamins are ok but you should talk to your doctor to find out what's right for you.

I am totally hitting up JCPenny, Target, Aeropostale, American Eagle, Aeropostale, and Hot Topic! My tip is to have everything mapped out and check out the website for a sneek-preview of what the store has (no pun intended) in store!

MODERATOR?
I said this before but the mod didn't appear, so my 2 questions are,
1# what's the big deal about mead, my nerdy parents buy it all the time, we don't even buy paper mate or other type of company name for school supplies and staying organized.
2# My mom buys me nothing but aeropostale clothes ever since sunday! She said, I'm lucky I get these clothes caz other people might be jealous and stuff..I can't buy any other type of differ style clothes from differ brands! I like having a combination of differ brands not just AEROPOSTALE! x( My parents doesn't listen, they just say be happy for what you have and so on..I really don't get 'aeropostale', what's the big deal?? I mean, my mom and dad are always so formal with suits, fancy dresses, tuxedos, etc but they actually want their only daughter to wear something girly other than formal?? My older brother wears formal clothes, but I'm the only one who gotta wear girly girl clothes from aeropostale! Frown

He girl! Sunday isn't that long ago, maybe your mom just went shopping there and doesn't want to go back to the mall.  Next time you guys go shopping, suggest brands like American Eagle or stores like Delia's and see if she's okay with the changes.   I'm not sure wy your parents like mead so much, but its their choice to decide wht supplies to buy (it's their money).  When you start working and earning money you can buy whatever you want, but until then, you have to stick to your mom and dad's rules.  xoxo
