This week, GL editors and interns are pulling their favorite books off the shelves, busting ‘em open and celebrating their right to read. Thousands of books have been banned, burned and censored in the past, and every year, new books are added to the list. This week, however, the publishing world is coming together to honor the literary treasures that have been and continue to be challenged.

Banned Books Week has celebrated the freedom to read for the last 30 years. This year, it runs through Oct. 6. And we’ve got just the way to join in the fun: participate in the virtual read-out on YouTube!

Hundreds of people across the globe are recording themselves reading their favorite banned books, from Dr. Seuss to To Kill a Mockingbird. Fire up your Web cam, open your pick to a memorable part and start telling a story that everyone should be able to read.

Want to take part? It’s easy! Upload your vid to YouTube, then use this form to submit it to the official Banned Books Week official YouTube channel.

Need some inspiration? Here are our top-10 banned book picks:

10. Alice series by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

9. Gossip Girl series by Cecily von Ziegesar

8. Goosebumps series by R.L. Stine

7. A Light in the Attic by Shel Silverstein

6. Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret by Judy Blume

5. ttyl, ttfn, l8r g8r series by Lauren Myracle

4. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

3. His Dark Materials series by Philip Pullman

2. The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins

1. Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling

modmodmodmod So I have a little problem with trying to be flirty/funny but ending up taking it too far and ending up creepy and annoying. I do it especially to this one guy who I kind of like (I touch his hair and say weird things about us dating) even though he's stupid, annoying and rude sometimes. I really think I'm going to far and he won't want to be friends with me anymore. I do want to be friends with him but how to I alo tell him to be less rude. Like today, I was acting creepy and he said "if she were a 10 (as in rating girls) she'd be my worst nightmare."so his friend asked him what he meant so he said that he dreams about "hot chicks scaring him and I'm 4 points away" So basically how can I stop him from being rude? and how can I flirt better and keep myself from being creepy.

Hey girly! I'd lay off this guy a little. He sounds like a jerk, and you can do better than that. As for scaring guys away, it's important to be yourself, but also be relaxed. Don't try to rush things. Guys like confident girls, and girls that have their own lives and interests. By showering a guy with too much attention, it'll look like you have nothing better to do, and that won't be attractive. So, take a step back and pause before saying things/doing things. Maybe enlist your friends for some help. Ask them to give you the heads up if you're being "creepy."

That's just weird. Why would they need to do that? I know my school has a least 3 of those series

MOD MOD MOD MOD I have been told that I come off as rude or hurt people's feelings without noticing it. I didn't realize i was doing this, and i never want to hurt anyone's feelings. What can I do about this?

Hey chica! Sometimes, things come off not the way we intend them to. I'd make it a point to listen to others more than you talk, and when you're stressed or in a bad mood, take a few breaths before saying something you don't mean. Maybe enlist your pals for help, too. Ask them to let you know when you're coming off as rude, in case you don't realize it yourself.
