Start 2013 off right—with the best lunch a girl can pack! Whether you’re battling New Year’s resolutions or simply trying to add a dose of healthy to your daily diet, these three yummy bites are an awesome way to start. Munch on!

 

Clementines

They’re pretty much the cutest oranges we’ve ever seen, but their teeny size isn’t the only reason we’re packing ‘em in your brown baggies: These babies contain 60 percent of your daily recommended vitamin C. See ya, influenza!

 

Carrots

Who knew dinky baby carrots could pack such a punch? Just one cup of these orange meanies supplies you with 400 percent of your daily recommended vitamin A, which keeps your eyes sharp, your teeth healthy and your skin gorgeous.

 

Kale

Before you write this one off, gimme a chance to explain: Kale is a great spinach substitute. We love tossing it on sandwiches for a bit of crunch (and vitamin goodness—you’ll hardly notice it’s there!). You can also make it your go-to salad green. Chop and toss it in a bowl with a bit of sea salt, massage the leaves until their fragrant (just trust us on this one). Then add in bits of whatever’s in the fridge or pantry. We like chopped pecans, cranberries, radishes and apple. Add in leftover protein from last night and your fave dressing and you’re set!

Okay so im not very skinny right now and my friend is having a birthday party in Feb where were going to go swimming and Im wearing a bikini (its all I have and im not getting a new one) What workouts can I do at home without any equipment to tone my stomach/ab area and my thighs (especially inner)oh and love handles quick? also is there certain foods I should eat? Thanks!!

Hey girl,

If you don't have exercise equipment, you can still get in cardio by running outside, running up and down the stairs in your house and doing things like jump roping and jumping jacks in your house. And you can always do pushups and situps! Check out these articles for some awesome tips on ab workouts and toning, and be sure to check out our main workout page for tons more tips! As for food, make sure you're getting enough protein and eating plenty of fruits and veggies.
