Lunch Line Revolution

Like lots of girls Wyntergrace Williams, daughter of talk-show host Montel Williams, had gripes about school lunch. But she didn’t just stand in the lunch line, complaining about mystery meat.

Wyntergrace has been lobbying Congress in Washington to change the Child Nutrition Act to include vegetarian lunch options in schools around the nation. She even starred in an ad promoting her campaign, which aired during The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Wyntergrace also met with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine to discuss the need for healthier grub in cafeterias.

“I talked to them about my concern for animals and about why I am a vegetarian,” Wyntergrace says. “And, why I think that there should be a vegetarian option at schools because there [are] a lot of vegetarians at my school, too. They don’t have an option to eat, and the lunches are very unhealthy there,” Wyntergrace tells us.

Her friends, as well as the students, teachers, and parents at her school are all ready and excited for the Healthy School Lunch Revolution.

“A lot of the parents and teachers are all for it. I talked to a lot of people in my town and in other towns and they’re all for it. It just shows that a lot of people want healthier lunches and they want to have a healthier lifestyle.”

In fact, there is a petition (CLICK HERE for deets!) circulating the web that has over 88,000 signatures in favor of the bringing change to the caf. To join the revolution and speed up the process in your own school, you can sign the petition or start talking to your principals about ditching the corn dogs for some yummy veggie burgers.
