How to protect your strands from the summer sun

We obvi love the warm weather months, and sometimes all we wanna do is spend a good long day outside enjoying the sunshine. But sadly, the heat and sunrays can do some major damage to our tresses, leaving them dry and frizzy—yikes! Avoid the hair drama and follow these simple tips to protect those strands from the summer sun (you'll be glad you did).

Put down the heat

We can't stress this enough. It's time to embrace your natural texture and put down the blow dryers, flat irons, and curling wands. Humidity and warm air do enough crazy stuff to your hair, so there's no need for extra styling tools that will just damage your hair even more.

Upgrade your hair care

If you spend a good part of your day in the direct sunlight, it's probably a good idea to invest in a nice leave-in conditioner that contains SPF. Just like your skin, your hair needs the protection from UV rays, too.

Rinse your pool hair

Definitely make it a habit to rinse the chlorinated pool water out of your hair once you're done swimming. The chemical combined with the sun can dry out your hair BIG time.

Wear a hat

Nothing is more effective than just covering your hair. Throw on a cute baseball cap, fedora, or floppy sun hat. That way, you'll look extra trendy and protect your lovely locks at the same time. This will also avoid sunburn on your scalp, which can be pretty painful (and no good for your health).
