Chatting with Joey King

She plays energetic and quirky Ramona Quimby in Ramona and Beezus (in theaters now). And, yes, Joey King (who turned 11 yesterday!) is just as peppy as the character she plays.
While she still chats and hangs with on-screen Ramona and Beezus sister Selena Gomez, there are even more pranks and sib bonding with her real-life older sisters, Haley and Kelli, that make the life of Joey a fab one. We chatted with the budding starlet and had her spill all about it. Check it out…

GL: What’s the best piece of advice your sisters have ever given you?
Joey: Just always be yourself. Don’t change for anybody, not a boy, no one.

Is your relationship with them similar to that of Ramona and Beezus?
No, they’re not similar whatsoever. Me and my sisters get along a lot, and they always include me in what they’re doing. It doesn’t matter if we are at Costco or an Olive Garden, we always make each other laugh.

Have you played any pranks on your sisters growing up?
Of course I have! [The biggest were] probably TPing their room and putting their bras in the freezer. They were very shocked...not too happy about it.

Well, have they done anything crazy to you in return?
Kelli once picked me up by my underwear. I said, “I wanna see what it looks like because I see it in a lot of TV shows.” Of course it was like in cartoons.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve convinced one of  them to do for you?
Haley and I used to share a room. I convinced her to help me move my bed to the corner closer next to [hers]. It was really funny.

How do you plan on keeping in touch with your on-screen sister, Selena Gomez, once promotion for Ramona and Beezus dies down?
We’re going to call each other, go over to each other’s houses. She hasn’t been to mine yet, but I’ve been to hers so I’m hoping she can come here.

Ramona is such an energetic girl. What’s one thing you do to pump yourself up when you’re feeling tired?
Listen to music. It makes me feel really energized and pumped. It helps me get awake.

Any type of character you’d like to tackle in a future film?
I would love to play a girl in a movie where she’s a professional roller skater. I love roller-skating.
