Want your food to taste better? Get. Off. Instagram.

We love Instagram. It's just so darn pretty, you know? But the thing is, when we see snaps of the perfect fried egg nestled in a pile of fresh greens and tomatoes and toast, our bus stop breakfast seems a little lacking. And when a pic of syrup-drenched pancakes pop up? Forget it. We'll just wait and hope lunch looks a little better.

A recent study proves that scrolling through snaps of delicious-looking food makes your meals seem less than adequate. Here's what happens: You see a picture of a Chipotle burrito on Pinterest and start salivating. That is so your dinner, you think, but when you make it happen, the burrito doesn't taste quite as good as you imagined. So later that day, you start munching on some chips to kick your salt craving. And you start scrolling through Insta and see pic after pic of ah-mazing snackies. Suddenly, those chips are bland and boring. Yawn. You want what everyone else is having.

The thing is, your food is just fine. It'd be scrummy, even, if you didn't haven't everyone else's food to compare it to. After all, you're not a trained chef at a Michelin-starred restaurant. And yeah, maybe you're the next Master Chef Junior, but that still doesn't mean that every dish you whip up has to compete with the Insta-worthy beauties we see 24/7. So do yourself and your meals a favor and log out, lovely. Then savor every. Single. Bite.
