How to make your life feel like Djo's Chicago

After these past few days, I'm sure we're all familiar with the lines, "And when I'm back in Chicago, I feel it." Basically every single TikTok with the song "End of Beginning" by Djo (aka Joe Keery from Stranger Things) has people showing their beautiful homes and lives in the city. But even though the majority of us don't reside in Chicago or NYC, we can still romanticize our little abodes. From inside your room to around your neighborhood, it's time to turn our hometowns into our own personal Chicago.

Flowers

Flowers make literally everything better. Whether it's your local flower shop, grocery store or even from your backyard garden, getting yourself flowers makes every day better. Head to Trader Joe's (or your local florist) to pick out a few bright 'n' cheery stems, then pop 'em in your favorite vase.

Hit up the neighborhood coffe shop

@avajules_

We're here for supporting the neighborhood gems! Grab your current read or meet up with your besties, order a latte and relax in this fun and cozy environment. Srsly, even though you don't have The Bean in your neighborhood, there are still sooo many great places to visit.

Head to a bookstore

@haleypham

Speaking of reading, head to your nearest bookstore and get ready to spend hours browsing the aisles. Envelop yourself in the hundreds of stories that are available, then choose a few ones to take home with you. But seriously, take your time because who doesn't want to spend their entire day inside an aesthetic bookstore with a cute outfit on?

Revamp your room

Spring cleaning time is here, and while it may seem mundane, revamping and cleaning your room will encourage you to appreciate and use your space more. From adding new colorful pillows (like these colorful ones from Amazon) to simply changing the setup of your room, a refresh is always good.

And don't forget about the smell of your room—adding a fresh scent to your environment is a must for romanticizing. Light a new candle or opt for a fun diffuser, then use them whenever you're in your room to set a great vibe.

Nature walks with playlists

@thatwellnessgurl

If you also have Djo's song on repeat, this is a good choice for you. Make a new playlist with your current fave songs, put on a cute matching set and take to your neighborhood for a fun little (or big) nature walk. Relax and take in the beautiful sights around your home, whether it be pink budding trees, little streams or even just impressive architecture

Journal outside

It's so important that while you romanticize y life on the outside, you also take time to heal your inner self as well. Grab your journal and head outside in your yard or a nearby park. Fill out a few prompts, let your mind wander on your page or even draw your surroundings—whatever feels right for you.
