5 reasons you shouldn't ever go to bed with makeup on
It clogs your pores.
Your pretty face needs to breathe! It’s okay to apply some makeup during the day to pull your look together, but bedtime is when you should be refreshing for a brand new day. Keeping makeup on your face one night won’t cause your skin to go crazy with breakouts, but if the habit continues it could attract acne-causing bacteria to your pores–yuck!
It builds up on your pillow.
The more you hit the sack wearing makeup, the more oils, powders and chemicals will build up on your pillow. Over time, this can lead to greasy skin, greasy hair and a very dirty pillow! In fact, whether you wear makeup to bed or not, you should make sure your pillowcase is being washed at least once a month to avoid residue build up.
It can cause eye irritation.
It’s a real pain when something gets stuck in your eyes. Hair, eyelashes, makeup residue—couldya not!? Sleeping with mascara and eyeliner on can cause the substance to get into your eyes while you’re getting that beauty rest and could lead to severe irritation. If you often don’t have the time to properly wash your face before going to bed, try keeping some makeup remover pads on your nightstand.
It can cause premature aging.
Throughout the day, your face accumulates a lot of stress. And when you sleep in your makeup, your skin is not given the chance to recover from said stress. This can lead to premature aging, such as the development of fine lines or wrinkles. Wash your face, girl, because you’ll want to keep your skin looking as young and fresh as possible!
You’ll have extra work to do in the morning.
You may have not had enough time to take off your makeup before bed, but leaving it on means less time for breakfast. We don’t know about you, but having to worry about taking off all of your old/smudged makeup from last night before putting on your fresh makeup is such a pain. By taking off your makeup at night, you’re saving your skin and saving time in your morning routine.
