Just a Fairy Tale

“There’s a sparkle in his eyes,
It shines when you’re around.
I see the way he stares at you,
He doesn’t hear anything, not a sound.”

That’s what all my friends say,
They think he’s in love with me.
But I know he likes another girl,
So how can that possibly be?

She likes him back,
I know for sure.
They would be a perfect couple.
Their hearts connected; so assured.

But I can’t stop myself from thinking,
“What if that was me?”
I would be the luckiest girl in the world,
Happiness surrounding me.

I know that’s just a daydream,
A fairy tale, a lie.
But would it even hurt,
If we gave us a try?

But I know you won’t agree,
You will bluntly just say “no”.
But every night, in my head,
I wish that wasn’t so.
