Forgive and Forget

It starts with a sigh and a horrible silence
That can’t be filled at all.
She knows that it’s coming and walks away
He can’t get the words and starts to fall.

The melody’s strong around you,
The sun always shines when you smile,
The air it feel warm and the flowers catch their breath,
And then I know everything’s been worthwhile.

Her umbrella goes up and she hails a cab,
He’s left standing alone in the rain.
They stand far apart and look away,
But they both start to feel the same pain.

She gets in the cab and he sneaks a look back
To be met by her wet, tear stained face.
He starts to think and that’s when the car pulls away,
And he finds himself matching its pace.

He shouts that he loves her as the window rolls down
And she tries to muster a grin.
He says he was wrong and he takes back what he said,
And at the end he wants to begin.

She opens the door and rolls out of the car,
And they sit in the middle of the street.
He looks at her, she looks at him,
And they share a look that would turn any man sweet.

The melody’s strong around you,
The sun always shines when you smile,
The air it feel warm and the flowers catch their breath,
And then I know everything’s been worthwhile.
