Don't Wait

I've waited too long
For the world to go my way.
I think something will happen
As I stand here, day by day.

I'm afraid to take action,
Bring matters into my own hands.
I'm afraid I will get ridiculed
If I take a stand.

So I wait along the sidelines,
Watching life go by,
Wanting him to walk my way,
But when he doesn't, I heave a sigh.

You can't wait on the earth to change,
To give you what you want,
You must go do things by yourself,
No matter how much they taunt.

I'm telling you this,
Because I didn't choose this path,
And now my own inner fear,
Has enclosed me in it's wrath.

So don't go ask your friends
to talk to your crush for your sake,
Because the chances of him liking you
Are only going to break.

I can't change my ways now,
I fear it is too late.
But have I learned, oh yes, I've learned
That you can't just sit and wait.
