A Perfect Parfait

Searching for a revved up way to start your day? Hunting for a healthy after-school snack? GL's Granola Parfait is the perfect pick-me-up!

Serves 1
What You'll Need:

about 1/2 cup granola, homemade or store bought
about 3/4 cup vanilla or lemon yogurt

Fresh Fruit Possibilities:
(about 1/2 cup) sliced strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, banana slices, grapes, chopped peaches or mango, chopped oranges or kiwi, chopped apples

Tools:

tall, clear glass or plastic glass
cutting board
paring knife
soup spoon

What You'll Do:

1. Find a tall, clear glass or plastic glass. (For breakfast on the run, use a disposable glass and plastic spoon). Using a soup spoon, put 3 spoonfuls of yogurt into the bottom of the glass. Sprinkle 2 spoonfuls of granola over the yogurt. Add 2 spoonfuls of fruit if you like.

2. Repeat; yogurt, granola, and fruit on top. Eat immediately before the granola gets soggy.

A Word about Yogurt: Look for plain or flavored yogurt containing these ingredients – milk, a culture, sweetener such as sugar, natural flavoring – not a long list of artificial ingredients. Also, some yogurt companies, such as “Dannon”, refuse to stop using milk containing rBGH, a growth hormone given to cows and hasn’t been proven safe for girls and women. If it doesn’t say, “BGH-Free” on the package, call the company and ask.
