Decorating tips to steal from these *super* extra dorm rooms
Lots of girls see college as a fresh start—new friends, new teachers, new independence and, most importantly for some, a new room! Social media is filled with first-years that took their dorms to the next level, seizing the opportunity to hone their budding interior design skills. Whether or not you're going off to college anytime soon, you can still take some lessons away from these ambitious decorators.
Choose a color scheme, and keep it consistent. The girls who designed the room above kept their palette patriotic, with all their decorations either navy blue, bright red or clean, simple white. This is a great way to keep your room cohesive, and to show off your fave colors.
Pile on the pillows. Nothing is better after a long day than sinking into your bed, surrounded by soft and fluffy pillows. Ahhh.
Add a fun rug. If your floors are just plain wood, rugs can be a great way to add a pop of color. They also keep your bare feet from touching the ice-cold floor in the mornings.
Pay homage to your favorite city. Posters can be a great way to show off your love for a destination (the designer of this room is proudly declaring her obsession with NYC). Even if you've never been somewhere before, your room can transform into wherever you want, and become the vacation spot of your dreams.
Hang up some fairy lights. Overhead lighting can be harsh, and sometimes lamps don't do the trick either. Take some advice from the decorators behind this room—for a softer, more ethereal look, string lights are the way to go.
Display photos on a cute bulletin board. We know that you have all of your favorite photos saved on your phone, but wouldn't it be nice to have the smiling faces of your friends and family greet you every time you walked into your room?
Put a favorite quote above your bed. For some daily inspiration the moment you wake up, natch.
