Your Bod

My hands, feet and armpits are always sweaty!

Deodorants and anti-perspirants make me sweat more! Is this just a phase?
“Excessive sweating may run in your family. You start to sweat more around puberty,” says dermatologist Dr. Diane Madfes. “Talk to your parents to see if they had the same issues.” If it’s not genetic, there may be an underlying problem. Whatever the reason, you need to see a doctor if excessive sweating is bumming you out.
As a first step, Dr. Madfes suggests switching over completely from deodorants to anti-perspirants. If that doesn’t solve your sticky situation, try the anti-perspirant Drysol, which your doctor can prescribe for you. Drysol contains aluminum chloride, which decreases sweat production by plugging pores. “Be sure to apply the Drysol at night, though, because it can dissolve clothing,” says Dr. Elgart.
