Your Bod

I wake up in the middle of the night with the worst leg cramps!

“Cramps are very common and sometimes run in families,” says Dr. Tom Sullivan, pediatrician and spokesperson for the American Academy of Pediatrics. “Cramps can be associated with exercise or heat, but most often there doesn’t seem to be any real cause.”

To decramp, stand and stretch your leg out, flexing the foot up as if you’re pulling your toes toward your shin. While adult athletes sometimes cramp from lack of potassium (bananas help that), there isn’t much you can do when it’s your turn to ride the Charlie horse—sorry, aspirin or Advil won’t help.

We want to hear from you! Send us your weirdest body questions here (seriously, we'll answer anything!) and it just might get featured.
