How to up your professional game during quarantine

Are you daydreaming about the moment when we can go be back in the world again? Hoping that when this is over, you can land that part-time job or internship you've been wanting? If that sounds like you, here are some ways to boost your professional game during quarantine!

1. Put anything that demonstrates responsibility on your resume

When you're lacking in work experience, it's even more important to make sure your responsibility stands out on your resume! Did you babysit for your neighbors one summer? Include that! Are you the captain of your school's soccer team? Put that down too. Including these activities will show employers that you can be counted on and will increase the chance of you being offered that *sweet* job you've been hoping for.

2. Learn the basics of LinkedIn

I know what you're thinking: why do I need a LinkedIn profile? Even though you might have little work experience, LinkedIn is a great place to showcase what you've accomplished in other areas! Talk about that science fair project that got you first place in your school, or that time when your school's production of "Wicked" won best high school play. All of these accomplishments are important and you can continue to add more to your profile for years to come.

3. Practice your "elevator pitch"

Have you ever gone into an interview and not known what to say? Practicing your elevator pitch can help ease those nerves and make you feel more prepared to talk about yourself! An elevator pitch is a short speech about who you are, your accomplishments and what your goals are. Spend some time crafting a good elevator pitch that works for you and wave goodbye to pre-interview butterflies.

Using this time to clean up your resume and gain some professional skills is sure to leave *everyone* impressed the next time you walk into a job interview.
