6 ways to achieve the *perfect* balance between productivity and fun this school year

Now that school is back in session, it is more important than ever to find the *perfect* balance between productivity and fun this school year. While fun probably isn't the *first* word that comes to mind when you think of the back-to-school season, there are so many ways you can make this school year exciting while still accomplishing all of your goals. So how do you do it *all* at the same time? Here are six easy tips to help you find the perf work-life balance this school year!

1. Plans and planners

I'm a type-A personality and a Virgo, so I might be a bit biased on this topic. However, in my humble opinion, making plans is the *best* thing you can do for yourself this school year! I like to plan out my time using Google Docs, but you can opt to use other apps such as Google Calendar or the Notes app (or you can keep it  classic by writing your plans by hand). Different organizational techniques work better for different people, though, so you might have to experiment before you find a planning style that works best for you!

2. Set your goals

Take some time to reflect on your priorities. Think: what do you *actually* want to accomplish this semester? Based on your answers to this question, create four major goals. The more specific the goals, the more attainable they will be! Finally, write down your goals in a place that is accessible so that you can look at them frequently if you're in need of motivation. Plus, putting your goals down on paper helps to solidify them...and you can even turn it into an aesthetic bullet journaling activity!

3. Sit back, relax and enjoy

Now that you've set your school year goals and planned out your schedule, set aside some time for relaxation—you've earned it! The options are truly *endless* when it comes to after-school fun. You might want to have a picnic with your friends, take a bike ride or read a book. If you want, you can even make a school year bucket list with your besties!

4. Exercise in the morning

Exercise is the *perfect* way to start the day. Not only is exercise beneficial for physical health, but it also results in various other benefits including greater alertness and energy, better focus, mood boosts and even better sleep! Morning exercise is a super fun and productive way to get your blood pumping before a busy (or not-so-busy) day! One great and *totally* underrated exercise idea is swimming. Plus, it's a great way to stay cool during the summer.

5. When in doubt, walk it out

On the topic of exercise...you know that song on TikTok that goes "Lemme see you walk, walk, walk, walk, walk, walk, walk"? Well, the lyrics speak the truth! It's scientifically proven that taking walks can have extreme health benefits such as reduced risk of heart disease, stronger bones and better balance. Plus, it's *such* a great way to get a breath of fresh summer air and recharge. Go on walks with your friends or walk your dog (if you have one) for some additional fun!

6. Organize your clutter-filled desk

Staying organized is one of the best ways to stay productive, and cleaning up your clutter-filled desk is one of the best ways to do just that. First, buy your supplies. You can find fantastic desk-organizing supplies at Target, Staples and Amazon. Next, find a system that will work year-round. You can do this by sorting any folders, notebooks, binders or other supplies in a way that makes sense to you. Stick to this method of organization and make sure that you have everything you use on a daily basis within reach. After you have tackled your desk, you can move on to other areas of your room if you feel inspired.
