The July Book Club Schedule!
It’s the second month of GL’s Book Club and we have some great reads for you. Some of them are favorites already, and some are simply must-check out. Read on for the schedule, then come back on the appropriate day to discuss, discuss, discuss!
Violet on the Runway, by Melissa Walker
Violet’s an awkward teenager: tall, gawky, shy. But then she’s discovered at her job at the cinema, and suddenly she’s a model living in New York—with all the craziness that goes with it. The discussion starts July 6.
Jinx, Meg Cabot
Unlucky Jean, aka Jinx, moves from the Midwest to Manhattan to escape a boy who just won’t break up with her. It’s no surprise that Jinx doesn’t exactly fit in. Not only is Manhattan a totally new place with totally new people, but she kinda has powers. Turns out her cousin Tory does, too, and she doesn’t seem to want to use them for good. The discussion starts July 13.
Just Listen, by Sarah Dessen
Annabel has a secret, and it’s ruining her life. Her family life is crumbling, her middle sister is literally wasting away, and Annabel doesn’t feel she can turn to anyone—until she and Owen become friends. Is his friendship enough for her? The discussion starts July 20.
Stargirl, by Jerry Spinelli
Stargirl is unlike any other girl at her school. And Leo can’t resist her. Until he realizes that he hates being “different” than everyone else. Will he choose the usual way, or follow his own path? The discussion starts July 27.
