You can get a pretty good idea of his faves, his sense of humor and whether you two are similar, Then, the next time you see him casually bring up his favorite movie for example. Invite him and his buds to join you and your buds for a movie marathon. Or if he loves to swim and has a meet coming up, subtlety mention that you’ve never been to a swim meet before. He will (hopefully!) get the hint and invite you to watch him this weekend.
