GL Goes Backstage at Fashion Week!

For most of fashionistas, having the chance to attend or even work at a show during New York Fashion Week is nothing more than a dream. But this year, I had the opportunity to work backstage at Badgley Mischka’s Spring/Summer 2011 runway show held at Lincoln Center in New York City. Totally cool, right?

My day began at 7 a.m. when I arrived at the tents. Even though the show wasn’t scheduled to begin until 10, the backstage area was already chaotic with all the hair and makeup artists working on the models. The press was also out in full force as the crazy busy Fashion Week workers completed the seating arrangements for the runway show! My role in all of the backstage craziness was to check in the press and photographers and to organize them before their scheduled interview times.

Aside from the busy backstage, the front of the house, where all the guests lined up to enter the tent, was filled with fashion's finest and all of your fave celebs including Denise Richards, Kelly Rowland, Kristin Cavalleri, and Gabrielle Union. And of course, they were fully decked out in Badgley Mischka attire from head to toe!

When 9:30 hit and all the pre-show interviews with Mark Badgley and James Mischka had ended, it was finally time for the show to begin! And at that point, the other interns and I, were lucky enough to have first dibs on any open seats in the tent. (I was so excited to see the collection!) At exactly 10, the music started and the first model hit the runway. So amazing! The clothes were beautiful and the experience was totally once-in-a-lifetime — I was so lucky to have been there to witness it!

Check out these exclusive backstage photos...you'll totally feel like you were there, too!

Um, we'd like to have three people working on our hair at once. Ahh...
