Why you should add icing into your skincare routine

On the hunt to upgrade your skincare routine for a radiant complexion? If you've been struggling with puffy morning eyes and dull skin that can never get a break from irritation (ugh), we've all been there.

But fear no more, bc facial icing has a way to solve problems for *all* skin types. You've seen this technique on #SkinTok, and we're here to confirm that its supposed magic is true—and give you all the deets, ofc.

The benefits of facial icing

Through lymphatic drainage, icing has the amazing ability to de-puff, tighten and shrink pores so that your complexion is smooth and clear. The process begins by increasing the blood flow and circulation in your face, which in turn wakes up the skin. For any redness and acne, the cold temperature is great for reducing inflammation while bringing soothing and brightening qualities at the same time. Prepare to be wowed by lifted, healthy and happy skin. Who knew that a simple ice roller could have so many benefits?

How to ice roll

For the girlies who are new to this trend, we have a step-by-step guide for how to ice roll the *right* way (plus some pro tips!).

@alyssaturzenski

Step one: Invest in a quality ice roller

When shopping for an ice roller, be on the lookout for one that rolls with ease, has a comfortable handle, won't harm your skin and is made of a material to keep cool. We heart how affordable this Amazon ESARORA ice roller is for beginners—equipped with a silicone head and various color options—or the Hot Mess Ice Roller from The Skinny Confidential that is all-aluminum to freeze fast and stay cold for a long time.

Step two: Prep

To prep your ice roller, freeze it for a minimum of 30 minutes so that it's ready to go at anytime, anywhere. Remember to be careful and let it sit for around 3 to 5 minutes—you don't want any ice burns!

Pro tip: To double-check that your roller isn't *too* cold, test it on your wrist first.

Between each use, also be sure to clean your roller (this is especially important for acne-prone skin). Finally, you're ready to get your glow on, bb!

Step three: Roll

In a slow and gentle motion from the center of your face outwards, roll to massage your forehead, temples, cheeks, chin and neck (or really anywhere that needs some TLC). Do this on a clean face and use minimal pressure to steer clear from bruising.

Pro tip: Although some prefer to roll on a bare face, feel free to pair it with a hydrating product beforehand to lock in extra moisture.

Once you're done, continue with the rest of your skincare routine and return it to the freezer 'til next time!
