Materials:

  • Old t shirt
  • Fabric scissors (or super sharp scissors!)

Directions:

Step 1: Cut the sleeves off the shirt. Try to cut as even as possible, because these will be the handles!

Step 2: Cut the neckline. To help make an even cut, trace the outline of a plate with a marker, then cut along the markings!

Step 3: See how big you want the bag to be. Flip your shirt inside out, and draw a line horizontally as high or low on the shirt as you want. The lower you go, the deeper the bag will be.

Step 4: Using your scissors, cut fringe about an inch apart from the bottom of the shirt up to the line you drew in Step 3. Make sure to cut the front and back so that you can tie them in the next step.

Step 5: Time to tie your fringe! Take the first pair of fringe you cut, front and back, and tie them together in a knot. Then, tie strands to the neighboring pair, and so on until the bottom is stable.
