Healthy Holiday Treats

We all know that it can be tough to find healthy treats during the holidays. GL took on the task of finding some good-for-you, yet scrumptious treats that you can indulge in this season (yeah, it was tough). These goodies satisfy those cravings, without being a nutritional nightmare. Enjoy, sugar plums!
 
Cranberry and Dark Chocolate Popcorn
This easy-to-make treat is delish and way portable. Just grab a bag of popcorn (go for air-popped) and toss a handful of dried cranberries and dark chocolate bits. This snack is loaded with antioxidants that are awesome for your bod.
 
Upgraded Rice Krispie Treats
Making some marshmallow goodness for your girls? This little change can make the biggest difference in this recipe: simply substitute your standard rice for brown rice cereal. The brown rice is much better for ya! 
 
Warm Cinnamon Apples and Pears
This is the healthy version of apple pie. Basically ya skip on the crust, and get in a serving of fruit. Slice up a couple of apples and pears and place them in a microwave bowl. Microwave ‘em for five minutes (if they’re not soft, nuke ‘em longer). Once they’re done, drizzle with honey and a dash of cinnamon sugar on top. Split them with the fam.
 
Gingerbread Cookies
Whip up a batch of festive gingerbread cookies or buy a bag from the store. They are healthier than lotsa other sweets of the season, but still have all the yummy flavor and spices.
