You Wrote It

"Lifestyle" -- An original poem

Lifestyle, an original poem by GL reader Jael G.

Black clothes, plaid skirts
Pout your lips
Make it work.
Strobe light, colored hair
Bright pink streaks
That make you stare.
Drums that shake you to the core
Crowd is screaming, "More! More!"
Boys in tight pants grace the stage
Screeching, screaming, lyrics, rage

Listen to that boy scream
Small time band, rockstar dream.
They throw themselves into the crowd
Amp is roarin' way too loud!

Colored hoodies, energy drinks
Mind is racing, you can't think!
Studded belt, lip ring
Vitamin Water, fruity zing.
Long bangs, layered hair
Scream it loud, we don't care!
Throw 'em up and sing along
We love it when they play this song.
Emo couples, broken hearts
They really tried, but it’s a start.

Listen to that boy scream
Small time band, rockstar dream.
They throw themselves into the crowd
Amp is roarin' way too loud!

Eyeliner nice and thick
Raccoon eyes, quick! Quick!
Lip gloss, tight pants
Scene kids that never dance.
Across the floor the rumors fly
Did you really see that guy?
Ipod, cell phone
A tatoo of a skull and bone.

Listen to that boy scream
Small time band, rockstar dream.
They throw themselves into the crowd
Amp is roarin' way too loud!

This is my lifestyle
In my shoes you've walked a mile.

Listen to that boy scream
Small time band, rockstar dream.
