Friends

What makes a bud a bestie? Real girls tell all!

Sure, boys are great, but they can’t beat a good bestie. It doesn’t matter what ya call them—your best friend, your BFF, your sistah, your other self—they rock, period. We asked GL readers to tell us what makes their best friend so special. And here’s what you said…

“My best friend remembers what's important to me and supports me through everything. I can't be embarrassed around her, she’s comfortable with my family, and we randomly do nice things for each other.” – Adella C., 14

“A good friend you can hang out with and have fun with, but a best friend you can tell anything to and you know that no matter how bad things get they'll be by your side.” – Andrea V., 13

“A good friend is someone that you smile when you see, that can make you laugh, and that understands you need alone time. A best friend, on the other hand, is a partner in crime, someone to make you laugh and help you cry, someone who always forgets the trivial things but never forgets the important things, someone who loves you even when they hate you, someone who you care about more than they'll ever know, someone who keeps your secrets, someone who never respects your personal space but always respects your personal choices. Your best friend is the family member that you chose.” – Kate B., 14

“A good friend always celebrates the goods time with you. A best friend is always there for you during the bad times.” – Maggie L., 17

“A good friend you really like. A best friend you love.” – Rachel Y., 14

“A good friend tells you it'll be OK when you're embarrassed. A best friend does something equally as embarrassing to make you laugh and forget.” – Jenny T., 14

“A good friend is just someone you sit at lunch with at school or talk to on Facebook. A best friend is someone you call on the phone and talk to them while watching the same channel because you can’t be with them for real.” – Kaley Z., 11
