Hooked on Idol

I always get hooked on American Idol! From Kelly Clarkson to Carrie Underwood, it’s always cool to watch where true talent got their start, reminiscing about watching them on TV before they were famous.

This season of American Idol has been nothing but intense. Many of the contestants are getting good criticism from the judges. And with new judge Ellen’s comedic flavor added into the mix, Simon’s brutally harsh comments are at least getting a little tamed.

The spectrum of performers is wide across the board with folk-hippie flavor from Crystal Bowersox to the young powerful voice of Aaron Kelly. And with the top 10 set in place for the upcoming AI tour, contestants are leaving it all out on the stage to be the next American Idol.
Left to Right: Katie Stevens and Aaron Kelly

The two youngest contestants in the top 10 have been spectacular with Aaron Kelly and Katie Stevens, both 17, but Katie’s ride ended last week. Aaron is still working on finding his own unique sound while Katie was blossoming with confidence right before our eyes before she was voted off. It was a cry fest during her farewell song.  Do you think Katie should have gotten the boot?
Left to Right: Andrew Garcia and Tim Urban

Riding on personality and charming looks, Andrew Garcia and Tim Urban have been escaping the fire with shaky performances every now and then. But Andrew left the show with Katie last week as his unique voice and style was losing its flavor. We’re going to miss Andrew’s big quirky glasses while Tim’s smile and smooth voice is keeping him in the competition.
Left to Right: Siobhan Magnus, Lee Dewyze and Michael Lynche

Lee Dewyze, Michael Lynche and Siobhan Magnus, have had the most solid and powerful voices on the show, but always seem to get confused about how to perform on stage. Michael was even saved by the judges two weeks ago, causing the double elimination of Andrew and Katie. The three ringers are extremely different in style: Lee, Rock; Michael, R&B; Siobhan, pop and they have stirred the judges with positive criticism week to week.
Left to Right: Casey James and Crystal Bowersox

Casey James, who’s got a great rocking voice, is probably the best guitarist Idol has ever seen since they’ve introduced instruments into the competition. Then there’s Crystal Bowersox, who has never had a bad week the entire competition. She draws soul that overpowers the other contestants with a hippie laid-back style.

If I were to take a look into the American Idol crystal ball and take a peek into the future, I predict Casey James and Crystal Bowersox would be the final two contestants. But, knowing Idol, things can change very quickly.
