Wanna know a secret? Setting a deadline for something huge will force you to actually do what you’re dreading. In this case, your mission is ask out that cutie you’ve been eyes for ages…before school ends.

Strike up a convo

To avoid your guy labeling you as “that girl I’ve never talked to before,” get to know the dude first. A flirty smile in the halls with a friendly, “Hey! How ya doin’?” will get him thinking about who you are…and where the heck have you been all year! Convince your scaredy-cat brain that he’s just another friend, and say hi. Deep breath, now go do it!

Be confident

Nobody is going to listen to you if you’re blushing so furiously you can’t get a word out, or you’re talking so quickly no one can understand you. Collect yourself—stare down your reflection if necessary, offer up a pep talk, pull your shoulders back and plaster on a smile. You’re fabulous. Why would he say no?

Go for it

Once you’re exchanging pleasantries and he’s flashing you that gorgeous grin in the halls, it’s time to take things to the next level. Ask him if he’d like to grab a slice of pizza with you after school to talk more about your fave b-ball team, or if he could use a study buddy for finals. Not brave enough to fly solo? Invite him to tagalong on a movie outing with you and your buds, or secure him an invite to the next co-ed party you guys are throwing.
