Our worst fashion moments ever

In honor of Fashion Week, we got GL’s so-stylish staffers to spill their most horrific fashion moments. Read on for gory tales of teen style statements we wish we’d never, ever made.

 

“Must I admit that I wore jeans and a sweatshirt (crewneck, thankyouverymuch) for basically all of high school? My BEST fashion moment, however, was a pair of Doc Martens I saw in GL and then bought immediately. I wore them for years. I wish I still had them!” – Katie A., senior editor

 

“This unfortunately wasn't a solitary moment as it was a few years of fashion foolishness. Up until I was 19, I plucked my eyebrows waaay too thin. I still pluck them (they'd look like caterpillars if I didn't), but only a little so they frame my face better.” – Karmen F., online contributing editor

“All of sixth grade. I had just switched from a strict, uniform-only private school to public school, and I had no clue about fashion. Think really unflattering jeans, 24/7.” – Brittany T., online editorial assistant

“In high school, I had an unspoken fashion rivalry with this other girl in my class. We'd silently check out each other's outfits when we passed in the hallways, and then pretend like we hadn't. One day, I was so excited to wear these amazing new black wide-leg tuxedo pants to school, and she showed up in the exact same pair! None of my friends understood my pain.
