The perfect spring beauty trend for your crush sitch

Love is in the air, baby! Whatever feels you find yourself with rn, we chatted with celeb makeup artist Maurie Davidson for a look to match. Because why wear your heart on your sleeve when you can show it with shadow?

Blush bomb

@yarashahidi

The sitch: You've found yourself with surprise feels...

Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush in Crush on Cupid, $20

They say hi in the halls...and your cheeks immediately flush. Dead giveaway? No, just one of spring's prettiest runway looks, bb. How to get it? "Use a larger fluffy brush to tap a rosy cream blush on your upper cheekbone, then blend toward your eyeshadow," instructs Davidson. Now if only asking them out were that easy...

Literal heart eyes

The sitch: You like them—and they like you (yes!)...

 Juvia's Place The Sweet Pinks Eyeshadow Palette, $14

Bold but dreamy rose tones are totally swoon-worthy. To start, brush a shimmery nude shadow on lids, adding a baby pink to the inner corners. Next, draw a pink line just above your eye's natural crease by first dampening a thin, angled eyeliner brush then dipping it in your boldest shade. Using the same technique, line your eye in a plum shade, going heavier at the end. Top the look with lashes, then bat away.

'90s pout

The sitch: You're reconnecting with an old crush...

Glossier Ultralip in Cachet, $18

Lean into those nostalgic vibes with a fresh feel on a throwback look. Start by lining your lips with a cinnamon-colored pencil (Davidson suggests the '90s classic MAC Lip Pencil in Spice, $19, maccosmetics.com), then use it to fill in your lips for a matte look. Make it modern by slicking on sheer brown gloss for a bit of sheen. Who says things aren't better the second time around?

360 degree liner

@emilylind

The sitch: You thought you two were just friends, but...

Makeup By Mario Master Pigment Pro Eyeliner Pencil, $22

Time for them to see you in a new (full-eyelined) light. Starting from the inner corners, make short strokes on your upper and lower lash line with a black eye pencil. Next use a swap (Davidson's go-to's are Daiso Cotton Swabs, $15, daisojapan.com) to soften and extend the line to the outer corners. Add neutral brown shadow for a deep-set look.

Rhinestone details

The sitch: You like them, but they like someone else...

e.l.f Face and Body Gems, $3

Unrequited love? Never easy, but we know you're still going to shine bright, babe. Hit gems with a dab of latex-free lash glue. Then, working from the inner corner out, place rhinestones just beneath your brow (psst: the So Easy Pickerr Uperr, $5, sallybeauty.com, makes it, well, so easy). "Finish the look with a nude shadow and fluffy, wispy lashes," says Davidson. Dazzle on, darling.

Diffused pout

@sadiesink_

The sitch: You just celebrated one year together...

Benefit Cosmetics Benetint Rose Lip and Cheek Tint, $30

You two have lasted through snowy hikes, sushi dinners and endless cups of chai...just like this pink-stained lip will. The trick to sheer perfection? Dab a bit of tint onto your ring finger (never use the brush directly on your mouth), then "gently tap the color onto your lips," advises Davidson. "Top it off with a balm gloss to lock in long-wear color." Mwah!

Red lips

@taylorswift

The sitch: Ugh, you just called it quits...

PAT McGRATH LABS MatteTrance Lipstick in Elson, $38

Maybe it's a bit obvi, but why not pay homage to the queen of heartbreak herself? To apply Tay's go-to shade (preferably while listening to "All Too Well", start in the center of your lip and carefully work your way out. "Add lip liner just on the outer corners," advises Davidson. To set the color, place a tissue over your lips, then pat on a loose powder using a brush. Now that's a *much* better kiss-off.
