4 ways to stay cool on super hot days

It’s about a million degrees and you’re dead set on going for a run...but should you be? We’ve got the do’s and don’ts for exercising in the hot, hot heat.

1. Sport a cap
A mesh hat will wick moisture away from your noggin, shade your face and prevent your part from burning. Plus, when you douse your cap in H20, it’ll keep your noggin cooler. Ahh....

2. Beware of the Code Red
There are some days when the temperature makes the air quality terrible and local officials will declare that it’s best not to do strenuous activity outside. This means you! Swap your sprint sesh for something in the A.C. (like a workout vid) or head to the pool instead.

3. Keep sipping
A gulp of water at halftime won’t cut it when it’s a total scorcher. Take a couple sips of water or Gatorade every ten minutes (even if you don’t feel thirsty) to keep those fluids up. Dehydration can be deadly in this weather (really!).

4. Opt for clothing that’s loose and light
Now’s the time to break out your tech-y fabrics in pastel or white hues. Dark cotton clothes will just attract the sun and leave the sweat right on your skin. Ick.
