Stylin' Side Parts

Sure, we love center parts, but if you’ve been doin’ the straight up ‘n’ down thing for a while, it’s time to switch it up. Side parts are sweet for spring and are super-versatile – they look amazing in a pony, pulled half-up or left down. Keep reading for our easy how-to, plus fab styles that any girl can do!

Quick Change

New to the side part thing? Use the arch of your eyebrow (aka, the highest point) as a guideline. Take a rat tail comb and use it to create a part that goes straight back from that spot. Comb your hair so it falls neatly on both sides. Leave it down or…

What You'll Do:

Coax hair into a low pony for a refined, but easy ’do.

Pull strands half-up and secure with an elastic. Fun and flirty!

Use a wide-barrel curling iron to add major wave. Set with hairspray and you’ve got a major boho babe vibe.

Go to Extremes

Been rockin’ a side part for a while now? Subtlety is great, but taking it to the extreme is a way to get an insta glam update. Deep side parts are a staple on the runway and (Ssssh! Don’t tell!) cinchy to pull off at home.

What You'll Do:

Start with your hair down. Use a comb to draw a part, starting at your temple. Comb hair on both sides of it and use some anti-frizz serum to make strands extra sleek. If your hair is short, leave it down. Girls with longer locks can twist it into a low bun. Add a pretty pin for an easy dance ’do!

Band It

A headband is a quick fix that everyone can use but they especially highlight a cute side part. Pick something with a fun color or funky print.

What You'll Do:

Decide whether you want to go with a straight and sleek look or a flirty, curly look. If you want waves, use a wide-barrel curling iron to curl your locks. If you want a straight look, use a flat iron to straighten your hair and tame and flyaways. Use a rat tail comb to create side part. Place your headband about two inches past your hair line, keeping your part in place. If you have bangs, you can opt to leave them out or tuck them back. How pretty!
